... and should they call the Jacksonville Jaguars regarding a trade.
The Jags signed free-agent OT, Tra Thomas, this winter. Then they drafted Eugene Monroe and Eban Britton two weeks ago. That makes for three potentially NFL caliber tackles on the roster.
In addition, the Jags had someone who played OT for them last year; and while he may not have been an All-Pro player at the position, he was an NFL-caliber player. That offensive tackle was Tony Pashos. [No, I could not pick him out of a line-up with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.]
Nonetheless, should the Skins call the Jags and find a way to acquire either Pashos or one of the guys that the Jags drafted to play OT?
I know that if I were the Skins' GM - - and be thankful that I am not - - I would see what the price was to acquire any one of the Jags' four tackles - - Thomas, Pashos, Monroe or Britton. Unless one of the two draftees is a total stiff, it seems to me that any of these four beats to all Hell what is on the roster now as players competing to be the right tackle on offense...

You might want to post the link from the Michael Lombardi article.
As for Pashos id just roll with the guys we got now. If we traded for him I wouldnt mind but I say just let Williams, Bridges, Heyer, and Jansen battle it out.

If we traded picks everyone would be arguing on how stupid Danny is for trading them.

We could trade them a player. It's more likely that any trades we make won't happen until teams start to cut down at the end of the exhibition season or until we have an injury to a projected starter.

I thought they were going to release Pashos? Honestly, I think right now any trade is not worth it. Let's keep our picks.

Agreed; and in in addition, we already have 5 players competing for the spot..

It's amazing the faith people have in Buges. I do believe Williams was a 1st round pick. I know he's heavy but he's only like 15 to 20 pounds heavier then his playing weight of a coulple of yrs ago. I know he's been out but I think Buges can get him back to using good technique and I bet he starts at RT no matter what his weight is.
We also picked up Bridges who actually started all last season. He's good enough to either be used at Guard or RT. Honestly we have significantly upgrades one of the weakest spots.
Then we have Heyer who was the starter last yr until he got hurt. He did admirably in the few games he played.
Then there's Jansen. Although he's not my number one choice at RT anymore he can fill in and if he gets his mojo back and plays lights out then start him. The only problem is I think he showed he sucks at pass blocking but is one heck of a run blocker. Heyer is more of a pass blocker but sucks at run blocking. Now if Heyer can get his technique down and show he can do the job then I bet he starts.
In other words ...no need to contact the Jags just yet. Wait for camp and hope theres no injuries, if there is contact the Jags.

Yep, pick up the phone and call Marcus Washington. Offer a bit more than vet min to get him back in the fold.

I'll agree to that. Right now for the first time in a lonnng time, we have some competition at RT. I would consider strongside LB to be a bigger concern. I would rather see Orakpo getting experience playing against NFL caliber OT's than trying to learn a new position. If Marcus were here, I don't think there would be as much interest in Orakpo at SAM because the need wouldn't be there. Williams would prefer to play RT and Heyer has said he's gonna fight his guts out for that spot. I think the competition with the guys we already have on the o-line is gonna lead to improvement this year. I would not give up any high picks. If we can get a really good deal on someone who is much better than who we already have, than I'd go for it, but only if he is much better.

I agree on the Marcus Washinton front, but I love the fact that we have so much competition at the RT and the OLB position. If theres 3-4 guys fighting for the spot, then weve got depth behind whom ever wins. I dont see a problem with having 3 other RT's behind Heyer if he gets injured(aka 2008's OL)..Or Blades,Wilson, and Fincher pushing Orakpo for the SAM spot...I love the freakin competition...We dont need no stinkin trade.....Best man wins HOORAH
