Alexander is not on a roster, but he is not retired, either. He said he is working with new trainers in New Jersey and hopes that something might pan out with Washington, where he played four games last season.

What the??? Do the Redskins know about this. SA was a beast five years ago, but what can he offer now?

That part cracked me up. I wonder if he feels he has something to prove, needs a new check, or what. It does seem he's lost it, but who knows, he might be able to come back for a good couple of years with the right team. I mean, we have a guy we signed that hasn't even played since 2005, much less been an MVP since then.

Good luck to the guy, but I'm not sure that here is the place.

At this stage in his career, SA brings absolutely nothing to the field that we don't already have in Portis and Betts. Nothing.

Seattle gave him the obligatory large contract extension after his MVP season, and he's never been the same.

Wait, didn't the Redskins cut him??

Former MVP Shaun Alexander cut by Washington Redskins - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3726118)

Hate on him all you want, but Deion calls Alexander "The Burglar". Rich Eisen asked him why, Deion said 'because he tip toes thru the holes like he's robbing your house and doesn't want to wake you.' Funniest line I'd heard from an analyst in a long time.

Kinda weird, the writer throws out one line about Alexander "hoping something pans out in Washington," then doesn't offer any flow up quotes by Alexander or any explanation for the comment.

This whole thing is a non starter IMO.

Still, people are going to overreact to this. I can't wait to hear want crazy ass posts that will be on this thread tomorrow.

Yeah, it's sort of why I posted the thread actually. Because it seemed like such a throwaway line in there, it made no sense.

he was never good...ever! As soon as his line stopped being productive he stopped being productive. Worst 1500+ yard and 25+ touchdowns in a season player ever :)
