Shaun Alexander Looking to Tiptoe His Way Onto Redskins...Again?Skins4L 05-19-2009, 05:59 PM umm. i do remember this NOT working out before. SBXVII 05-19-2009, 08:07 PM Sooo, let me get this right. We have a player who was the league leading rusher in preseason, was coveted by 3 NFL teams, was looked at by a 4th prior to the draft in which the very team who originally signed him won the bid to bring him back to their team, all because he sucks? Hmmm. The Skins talent scouts must really suck. As a matter of fact the HC must suck also considering he would even consider bringing back someone who obviously has no talent, can't find a whole to save his life, and was only the league leading rusher against second rate players. One would think Rock being so great would have done a better job then Mason against said second rate players but then why was Mason the league leading rusher. Wait......I forgot, statistics don't amount to anything. It's all about what they have done in the past, which is why we can't develope players, cause we don't even consider anyone who does not have a proven record. Sorry, my man crush came out again. :) SBXVII 05-19-2009, 08:23 PM umm. i do remember this NOT working out before. I think you were refering to the TTB not Mason so hope you didn't think I was pointing you out. ;) diehardskin2982 05-19-2009, 08:24 PM what are the chances of us keeping Mason on the roster to make our own 3 headed monster? SBXVII 05-19-2009, 08:35 PM what are the chances of us keeping Mason on the roster to make our own 3 headed monster? I'll be honest absolutly no chance. I just get my man crush in a dander about all the people who say he did all his work against 2nd and 3rd stringers but fail to remember Rock had the same chances agains the same 2nd and 3rd stringers and could not produce. Having said that, Portis is our #1. Who comes after is the question. Some say it's Betts no questions. Some say it should be Rock. All I'm saying is everyone is screaming about not having young talent through out the team being developed for the future and yet when someone is brought in at RB we hear the same thing all the time. Portis, Betts, Rock. We have no room for anyone else. That's nice but at some point with all three of them being with in a few yrs of each other, they will all be either let go or retired. Who will be trained/developed to take over for when that happens? As of right now we bring in RB's to simply keep our 1st,2nd,and 3rd stringer from getting injured in preseason. Or so some would lead you to believe. The team has finally woken up at WR. O-line is still an issue perhaps but the team did go out and pick up talent to compete even though age is still an issue. Paintrain 05-19-2009, 08:39 PM what are the chances of us keeping Mason on the roster to make our own 3 headed monster? Mason's biggest issues are he's not special on special teams and he pass blocks only slightly better than a blind man with no arms.. Unless he's overcome those flaws he's no better than the 54th man on a 53 man roster. CRedskinsRule 05-20-2009, 08:50 AM While not on the Mason bandwagon, his quotes earlier, heavily paraphrased ... "I get it, I have to be more than just a runner." and he pointed to a couple of players who tried to drive home that point. IF he truly gets that he has to be more than a RB specialist to make a 53 man team roster, than maybe this will be his year. He definitely has some talent, so if we get lucky, and he steps up, that would be great. I don't doubt your observations but these issues can be taught and developed unless he's a complete moron which I doubt they would bring him back if that was the case. I don't think it's an issue of him not being able to block or big enough to block, but simply not knowing who to block when. If I'm not mistaken Portis had the same problem during the first few games last yr. They even stuck Sellers back there to help out and they both wiffed on one play. Perhaps people should be more concerned about JC's ability to read defenses? Perhaps people should be more concerned about JC's ability to read defenses? Yes, but Portis and Sellers are starters, and not camp scrubs who need to do everything to stay on the team. If Mason is to remain on the 53-man roster, he needs to prove he can do other things than just running the ball, since we have a starter and a backup and a 3rd string guy in that position. jsarno 05-20-2009, 04:14 PM I love how we Redskin fans LOVE our projects! It's not like taking a rookie and letting him play and develope...we love the camp scrub that was cut for valid reason but somehow we think he's a future hall of famer. I swear some here think higher of Mason than they do Portis. That's lunacy. There is a reason he was cut, and there is a reason he was invited back to camp. IF, and that's a big IF he worked on becoming an ALL AROUND back, then guess what? He'll make the roster this year. Anyone can run the ball...every kid in his back yard has some sort of talent, but being a team player and an all around back that will help out on EVERY play, not just running plays is what makes you stick in the pros. I'd love to see Mason make it, I love the underdog...but let's wait to crown his ass huh? |
