The Big Issues: Will Campbell Return? (from Washington Post)

With two quiet weeks looming until organized team activities resume June 1, this seems like a good time to get your take on the team's burning issues. First up: the QB or, as Jim Zorn says it, the kewbie. Given that owner Daniel Snyder attempted to trade for Jay Cutler and considered moving up in the NFL draft to select quarterback Mark Sanchez, Jason Campbell's status is questionable.

Do you think this will be quarterback Jason Campbell's last season with the Redskins and why?

If the skins do not win this year then Campbell will be among a long list of players and coaches on this team that do not return.

...JC has struggled w/ accuracy off and on w/o question. The worst last year IMO was a short pass to a wide open Portis that somehow was well behind and too high...i think this one got picked off. Anyway, Jason has shown he can throw a good ball it's just a matter of consistency. Zorn working w/ him gives me confidence overall...JC will continue to improve, even markedly. Everybody just chill a bit...If you're talking about the one against Pittsburgh...oh man Randy Thomas got killed off the snap. Still, you'd like to see some touch on the ball even under duress. Though, in Jason's defense, it only ended up as an INT instead of an incompletion because Portis reached well outside his frame to catch the errant throw, and just batted it up in the air.

Agree with GMScud. I remember JC over-throwing some deep balls or being too far inside/outside, but don't remember any under-thrown passes.

He overthrew mid-range balls but almost never deep ones. Its seems like every bomb to Moss, Moss has to slow down, turn around and sort of wait for the ball to get there. I kept thinking that they needed to adjust the WR routes to not out-run JC's arm.

I remember quite a few deep ball overthrows too. I remember thinking "Damn, he out threw Santana at a full sprint". Unlike GTripp, I do not have a photographic memory. I do distinctly remember having the thought though. Also, I have seen quotes from at least two offensive guys indicating JC's arm strength. One was along the lines of "With JC's arm, we ought to throwing it deep 3 or 4 times a game". That one I think was R. Thomas but not sure. The other was a simple "We (the WR's) aren't going to outrun JC's arm". I am pretty sure that one was ARE.

Quite frankly, other than by you, I have never seen it suggested that JC's arm was anything other than very powerful.

Noone will say Physically JC has a weakness. IMO its all upstairs.
the guy looks confused after the snap and has admitted to forgetting plays.

When exactly did he admit to forgetting plays? That's a new criticism. I thought I'd heard them all but 'forgetful' is a new one!

They're coming fast and furious lately huh...

Doesn't have a strong arm, can't remember plays, no emotion, etc.
