What about Orakpo?

I would rather see him at DE. He may turn out to be a good LB, he may not. He's proven at DE and that is where he excelled.

I agree Vallin. I'm a little weary of trying guys at different positions other than where they excel. Enough of the experimenting already. If you want a SAM, sign a SAM.

Couldn't agree more 53. You and I have seen what "experimenting" has done to this team:doh:

That's what i was trying to say. Why would you draft the best DE in the draft and move him to LB? I don't know what Blache is thinking.

We just need to leave Orakpo at DE. (If ain't broke dont fix it!) Let's see if he can hold up at LDE first before switching him to SAM. This will be a HUGE mistake if Blache goes through with this. Nevertheless, this will be something to watch for during Training Camp.

I can understand wanting to keep a good player on the field for as many downs as possible. And I can understand that guys who played DE in college have had some success making the transition to LB such as Marcus Washington. And I understand we need help at SAM. I understand all that, but I would rather play a player at the position he excelled at in college unless his skill set doesn't translate well to the pro game. Jenkins, the DB from Ohio State, may be better suited for safety, so I can understand that. I think Orakpo's skill set fits fine for the NFL at DE. Possibly at LB too, but better at DE IMO. Plus he's a proven commodity at DE. So...I agree with you. I understand what we're trying to do, but I don't necessarily agree with it. We'll see how it goes.

Yeah Rak is already on the larger, let's say heavily muscled side, for a SLB. Then knowing his penchant for "growth" and working out i think this kid is likely to beef up...sort of how Daniels did through his transition from college to pro. Bottom line i agree w/ those skeptical of throwing Rak into the SLB. I don't care if our 13th overall pick doesn't play every down...i do want to see him become an elite player at his natural position long term. Maybe that's RDE but my intuition is if in a year he's pushing 275lbs and has gotten even stronger Rak will be one of the most dangerous LDEs in the league.

I would like to see what we have in the Henson and Glenn first.

He was 32 by the time the Redskins decided to move him off the right side.

I thought Daniels was our LDE ever since we signed him in '04? I could def be wrong but his '05 campaign (8 sacks) was all at LDE right? I think for a season at least Daniels was the complete DE, both stopping the run and getting to the QB.

He signed with us in 2004 and played in 5 games that year. I can't remember if he played right or left DE. I believe we also had Renaldo Wynn and Regan Upshaw that year.
