Letting Mason go last season was Zorns first big mistake at head coaching. He brought in S. Alexander which was also a big mistake. He could have been developing this young talented RB, instead of bringing in that soft, washed up RB from seattle. Zorn needs to get his head coaching act together, he is in charge of the whole team not just the QB's. He's not the QB coach anymore.
You're kidding, right?

The only positive about going to a 2 game preseason would be the lack of preseason legends created every year. Perhaps people would have a more realistic expectation of players like Brennan, Mason and McMullen than they do.

Let's not make Mason out do be Adrian Peterson, or even Ladell for that matter. The dude's been cut from the Skins, the Ravens and the Jets. We dropped him cause he can't pick up a blitz...a liability in a WCO!
I saw his interview on Redskins Nation and...dude doesn't seem that bright!

You make it sound like we picked up Mason in the 2nd or 3rd round of the draft. Please don't blow things out of proportion. Do you remember Mason being completely irrelevant when he played against 1st team defense during the pre-season last year? If Mason is THAT good, he'd be starting for the Ravens or Jets.
Perhaps you could enlighten some of us as to what game in preseason last yr Mason got his chance with the first team offense blocking for him against a first team defense?
As I recall our first team offense only played like 6-8 plays all preseason up untill the last game. Portis playing with the 1st line offense and Betts picking up after untill the 3rd quarter where either Rock would start or Mason got his chance...against 2nd/3rd stringers.
and.....I guess theres's no chance the 2nd/3rd stinger OL missed their blocks or were unable to create holes.
Whats even more AMAZING is the fact that the Skins picked up this crap hole of a runner who could not make it off teams practice squad. One would think that the coach's see exactly what you guys are seeing and would avoid him like the plague for another back who might have the intangables. Camp fodder perhaps, but not needed. We have Rock to run all preseason or Betts if need be to keep Portis healthy for the regular season. Wait, we also picked up two more RB's prior to the draft. There's no reason to keep Mason if he sucks so much.

Selvin Young just got released by the Broncos. Would he be able to bump Betts off the #2 spot or is he cast from the same mold? I am hoping one of the scat backs (Alridge or Dorsey) can step it up this preseason and show Zorn they can be counted upon to backup our starting RB. They have the speed we are looking for but lets find out if the have the vision and/or skills.

#1. You have to watch what you say around here. Betts is as good as Portis and doesn't deserve to be bumped unless the team is looking for draft picks or a needed trade.
#2. Rock is the second coming. He does nothing wrong and no one can figure out why he's #3 on the depth chart. Clearly he should be our #1.
#3. With all this talent...there is no way the Skins can find anyone to compete with or unseat the three musketeers no matter how old they are. Pretty soon we will have to stuff them and put the football in their hands and turn on the electricity under the grass and watch them move about the field like electric football.
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzTD!
Aldridge and Dorsey were brought in cause the position coach said he wanted a RB with enough speed to take it to the edge, which we do not have right now. Portis has slowed and is more of a pound it between the tackles type a long with Betts. Rock does so much dancing with the stars in the back field he's lucky to get to the line of scrimage. Which is why he's only a KR. I guess ya have to excel at something.
As others have said we have so much talent at RB I find it hard to see anyone unseating anyone of the three musketeers , but it all depends on what the coach's are looking for at the RB spot.

This was the last game of the preseason against Jacksonville. Mason played basically the whole game and these were his stats:
1st Qtr (Jax 1st team defense): 3 carries, 13 yds.
2nd Qtr (Jax backups): 3 carries, 2 yds
3rd/4th Qtr (against the scrubs): 11 carries, 36 yds.
So he played in the 1st quarter and managed 13 yds against Jax's 1st team defense, and 2yds in the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd he probably played against the backups.
