Until we find someone who is as talented as Betts, (via FA, or trade) he will be our #2 RB this season. Cartwright isn't going to get released because he's a great special teamer and a locker room leader, but he won't be the #3 RB like he was the last few seasons. Dorsey or Aldridge (I think Aldrige) will most likely be the #3 RB.

I think Betts is totally expendable, but he doesn't suck. I'd actually like to see him get more carries this year for the sake of Clinton's health. Hopefully Alridge or Dorsey will make the team and we can use their speed out of the backfield occasionally.

I think the 2010 offseason will definitely involve either using a 1st day pick on a RB, or making a move for a very good free agent. With the pounding CP has taken since coming here, I can't see how he can play more than another year or two as a top tier RB. I hope I'm wrong.

Does anyone have a list of RBs who will be free agents next offseason? I suppose the whole CBA/uncapped season thing will have a lot to do with it.

I imagine Darren Sproles will be available (we could go after Rivers and Sproles next year!)

But otherwise, I'm not positive. Willie Parker maybe?

Not only no, but HECK NO!

The guy is a very good number two back and he can return kicks too! Heck no!

Besides there is no number two back out there that would be an upgrade over him.

Haha, we can trade Hall and a future first for AP. That's how we got CP. Although, Champ was a STUD.

I get the feeling CP 1) eat, sleeps and breaths the game and while he can be a little prima i don't think you could find a guy more dedicated to the game 2) he takes extremely good card of himself year round 3) he almost constantly, from what I can tell, adjusts his running style to protect his body and therefor extend his playing days. He became a bruiser in our system cuz we didn't give him the blocking he had in Denver as a slasher. If we do the right things along the line I think CP can continue to adjust his style and extend his career well into the future...that's what I hope to see.

He also fumbles during key times of the game....Seattle this year...st. Louis the year we lost portis for the year

Dude.
Every RB/FB fumbles.
From Afrian Peterson to Portis.
Portis fumbled in the Browns game.
Portis fumbled in the Ravens game.
Does Portis have a fumbling issue?

The fumble:carry ratio for Betts is way higher than you'd want from a back you'd count on for any length of time. Portis is nowhere close in that ratio.

People want to write off Rock every year it seems. He's a good special teams guy and that's why he sticks. I don't see his job being in serious jeopardy this year.
The Rock is like Rudy.....just keeps comin'
Perhaps a little more telented, but a good dude to have around
