16. (80) Washington Redskins
The pick: Kevin Barnes, CB, Maryland
What he brings: Barnes possesses adequate size and is smooth in his hips, which allows him to change directions quickly. The one thing we are really impressed with is Barnes' ability to track and play the ball. However, Barnes needs to improve his physicality in run support.

How he fits: We really like this pick because Barnes is a player who would likely have gone higher had he not had a significant shoulder injury early in his senior season. He will provide nice depth and give Washington one of the deeper defensive backends in the NFC.

Some people had Barnes going in the 2nd. This seems like a good value pick.

It's really not that bad of a pick, though they're really try to replace the physicallity of Shawn Springs. I'll give the pick B.

Jeez Vinny loves the guys w/ injury history. This kid is pretty small too, like Torrence but probably w/o the speed Torrence has.

The guys got good size at 6'1 188.

I had a feeling we would reach a bit not having a 2nd or a 4th but, reading up on him he seems promising. I felt that we needed a CB before the draft.

I was also like 2 rows up from the field for that best hit...saw the whole play develop and the thing that impressd me was his ability to read and commit to the play. A fundamentally sound tackler with smarts is always a precious commodity at cb.

I don't think it's inconceivable to picture this guy being a starter for many years

Barnes' one injury was from a hit that tore up his shoulder and broke bones...first of all wow! Secondly, this doesn't seem like the kind of injury to really be a factor down the road for a CB. If it was anything leg, knee or ankle yes I'd be worried but basically the kid needs to heal up the shoulder and he can pick up where he left off.

...this just seems like a great pick.

Better version showing the puking after the hit. :D

Excited to have this guy on the team. He'll bulk up in our training program, since that's the one knock against him.
