Ruhskins 04-26-2009, 01:42 PM God I hope so Ruhskins, the o-line is where the team broke down and failed us last year. Unless the younger kids (Heyer, Rhinehart, Geisinger) are ready to step up this year, the old guys WILL break down on us again..
I think if you are hoping for a 3rd rounder to save the day, then we're in big trouble. The o-line has gotten a bit younger, and the young guys have gotten more experienced. I think Levi Brown from Cincy will become a free agent (?) and he could be a better pick up than a mid round rookie.
mrreddman 04-26-2009, 01:48 PM I know about Moore. He is nice but very small. Barnes was not a bad pick, Im telling you, the kid can play. Hopefully Sidbury, Duke or Meredith will keep falling to the 5th. If not my man Follett may really be there!

I agree, I guess without taking Oher at 13, or any of the available o-lineman available with our third, the team feels that the young guys are ready to foot the load for us. Oh, and whoever we may be able to pick up after a few cuts.:twocents: PS- I worry about Rabach at center VERY MUCH.

That would be solid. I think we have made some solid additions this year with Dockery and Williams, Remember, if it wasn't for Williams injury problems with his back he would be an Elite OL, he was drafted 4th overall in 2002. He is a big man, i think he can play a solid gaurd for us, if Levi Brown is available, for the right price that would be a good pick up. Don't forget though, we still need that SLB. Leroy Hill is the ideal pick, but it will probably end up being MW for the veteran minimum.
cobracai1 04-26-2009, 02:08 PM I dont get the anger over this pick. Barnes is SOLID. CB is a need as well as much as we dont wanna believe it. Dont forget that the Giants, Cowboys, and Eagles are in our division and all have more than two good WRs. Do you really trust Smoot after this year to be a solid nickel? Or Tryon to be our dime? How about if there's and injury? I think we all have our eyes set on OL and LB for just reason but if the FO doesn't think the guys available are an upgrade to what we have then I have no problem with them taking BPA which in this case is still a position of need in my opinion.
Dirtbag59 04-26-2009, 02:08 PM Vinny made a great pick in the first round so he needed to balance it out by making a subpar pick in the third round.

Hopefully we can make a Horton-esque find/contributer:headbange in the later rounds...
JWsleep 04-26-2009, 02:14 PM Look, you had several needs here and they went with the BPA for their needs, I assume. DB was one of those needs. Then it's just a question of their scouting and board grades. Now, I have not had too much confidence in their scouting, but that's different from saying they blew it today on the clock.
The deeper question of talent evaluation is something Danny could actually fix, if he wanted. Instead of spending his billions on FAs and coaches, why not buy the best scouts? It would be cheaper and have a big impact. But it's not nearly as sexy, so it ain't gonna happen...
SirClintonPortis 04-26-2009, 02:17 PM The draft is NOT A SHOPPING LIST to address needs because there is absolutely NO guarantee that pick will pan out. The thing is, it's more likely that reach pick for the greater need will 'bust' than a BPA pick at a lesser need.

They draft more for need then they let on. Barnes was drafted because they wanted a big physical corner to abuse T.O. types at reciever a la Shawn Springs.
