I see this as a great thing.
Skins wont move up that high for a 16 game QB, plus, it left the OTs alone.
That plus the skins getting an OT, removes OT percieved demand...which is GREAT.
We may just end up with a solid OT after all.
And best of all...this could mean, no Sanchez!
The tackles will be long gone by the time it gets to us at #13. We were never going up to 3 or 4 for Sanchez. We'll go to 8 if he's there, which he probably will be.

tryfuhl:
You are Sanchez' agent. Imagine the Skins just traded away the #13 pick in the draft and Jason Campbell and maybe a lower round pick next year to get your client. On the squad now are Collins and Colt. You are negotiating for Sanchez.
You don't think you have Danny Boy spread-eagled over a barrell? If I were his agent, Danny Boy would pay TONS guaranteed to get him signed. Or ... you can start Collins or Colt. BUT if you thought either of those guys were capable, you would not have made the huge trade up to get my client.

Danny Boy has the scratch; that's not the issue.
But they spent a ton on Haynesworth and if the spend a ton on Sanchez - - which they will have to do if Sanchez' agent is smarter than fence post - - what does that leave them when it comes to making other players "happy"? [If Mike Sellers can whine about getting more money, then what player from last year's roster cannot?]
Let Danny Boy spend all the money he wants; the cap is going to level off and maybe even contract in the next year or two or three and then what...?
While it kills us in terms of depth, the Redskins always manage to get around the cap implications of virtually any player on the planet.

Ever notice how the main needs of the Redskins also happen to be the main needs of every team in front of us?

This is BAD news for the Skins - - if you believe that Danny Boy is "smitten" with Sanchez. That means that ANY team with a draft pick between 2 and 12 can threaten the Skins with taking "their boy" and there is no other quality QB out there in the draft for them to take if the Skins decide to call the bluff.
This might make Danny panic and trade all the way up to #2 or #3. Cost for that could be Campbell plus the #13 pick plus a lower round pick.
If the FO makes a trade like that it will probably go down in history as comparable to the signing - - and the forced starting - - of Jeff George.
BTW, if the Skins trade up for Sanchez and deal Campbell away in the same trade of some subsequent trade and you were Sanchez' agent, how much would you hold out for in negotiating with Danny Boy? $50M guaranteed? Why not? A trade up would have shown his hand and it's not as if he has a Pro Bowl QB on the roster to start in place of Sanchez. I would LOVE to be the agent in that circumstance...
I still do not believe that. I firmly think that the Sanchez thing is all smoke. I may be the only one in the world but I firmly believe that we have been fishing for trade-downs or for other talent to fall to us, nothing more.

just a side note, we gave 41M guaranteed to AH, Stafford gets 41M guaranteed from the Lions.
Isn't that proof positive there needs to be a good working salary cap?

I've been trying to get my boss to pay me $41 mil but for some reason he won't budge. Loser.

I think that the NFL commissioner Goodell needs to stop worrying about extending the season and playing a Super Bowl over seas and start worrying about the rookie payroll. I believe that the way it is set up now hurts teams. Everyone knows that the draft is more or less a gamble. Look at how many players come to the NFL from the college level that were total studs in college only to suck in the NFL. I am just saying that the deal that the Lions gave is historic. Stafford is getting $41.7 million guaranteed. That is $700,000 more than what the Redskins gave to a proven DT. What has Stafford done to prove that he is worth that much? Let him play in the NFL and then pay him what he deserves. I am just wondering where does it stop with these unproven rookies?!?!
