What's the difference between buying someone a plane ticket, and buying someone an expensive dinner?
The difference is time. The official wooing period ended last week. 10 days ago the Lambs could have bought him a plane ticket, a steak, and a case of Jim Beam. On draft eve, however, that is all forbidden, unless you are the Lions and Stafford has actually inked the deal.

I thought I read somwhere the Rams asked for and recieved permission from the league to start negotiating contracts if the Lions annouce they had signed their player(Stafford). I will try and find a link.

Just like you are foolish to believe something said by someone (Florio) who despises the Redskins.
Thanks... You are probably right, this time of year rumors are flying.

They asked for it but did not get it.

If Stafford is signed, why can't the Rams begin negotiation? why would they need permission?
How's that for a draft - 32 teams pre-sign their first round picks!

haha, probably because of the precedent that it would set
I still say let the number 1 team deal with the possibility of a holdout too, it's their fault for sucking so badly

That's why. You can't sell draft tv commercials if there is no drama.
