For goodness sakes, people, lighten up! They are just going to give the guy a chance. It's no big deal. It doesn't affect anything else. There's no risk. All of the recent QB/Draft drama seems to have everyone here on edge.

This could be a huge steal if his back is healthy.

Just like Erasmus James was a big steal after he came back ready to play of 2008.

If these guys are considered steals I would hate to be a cleptomanic.

Except we're not giving up any picks

Based on what I heard what Danny and Vinny on the radio yesterday, this signing will have no impact on how the Skins draft today. Vinny explained the front office's unyielding devotion to "the board." If I understood him correctly, if at any time today an o-lineman is the highest rated player on "the board" the Skins will draft him, regardless of need. People may not agree with that mentality, but at least it is a plan that they are sticking to.
It makes good sense to bring in the maximum number of players allowed to training camp/preseaon. People get injured, don't pan out, get cut, etc. etc. What is the harm in signing someone like Williams? Especially since the team gave up nothing to bring him in.

This is a 1 yr deal

This signing is probably being done out of respect to Dockery, and as a veteran minimum deal. Williams hasn't played in over a year, but has been working out for the past few months with Dockery at his home. I'm sure Derrick came in and vouched for Williams' desire and conditioning, which made it possible.

In my opinion, we can sign a thousand pieces of crap (and Williams may not be one) to vet min deals this time of year - they don't hurt us in the salary cap, and maybe they pan out or push a starter.

I like the move. He damn sure has the size. Its a low risk move that could benefit us if he is serious and healthy.

I hope this guy can stay healthy. He is a BEAST, 6-6 370. But again, lets hope he can stay healthy.

And as for the whole draft topic, im as big a supporter as there is that we need to get a DE in the draft to work with Haynesworth, however, Sanchez appears to be the real deal, and even though JC will "demand" a trade, maybe its a good thing, he is in his contract year... maybe we can get a janitor or something for him.
