freddyg12 07-16-2009, 11:26 AM Apparently Williams has got under 350 pounds. He is ready to compete for a job. I feel pretty good about our oline now. I always liked Heyer, Williams seems like the real deal and bridges was a solid RT in Carolina.
under 350! that's a big jump in weight loss.
(Funny how it's so relative w/nfl players, but 350 is so huge even in the nfl!)
I know it's not ideal to replace guys in your starting lineup midway in the season, but I think the best case scenario is that MW wins the job mid year. I worry that he won't be able to hold up for 16 games. If nothing else, his mental stamina will decrease if he's the starter from week 1 on.
If he has success it will be something that he & Buges really deserve some props for.

Where did you hear he's under 350. The progress chart says 365 still:

Vinny just said on 980 that Williams is at 354 and he expects him to be 345 by training camp.

Question: Gary, can you please keep us posted on Mike Williams’ continued weight loss?
-- Derrick J.
Gary: Did you hear Vinny Cerrato on ESPN 980 on Thursday? He said that Williams’ weight was down to 354 pounds. That’s incredible. He has lost more than 50 pounds since mid-April. For the last month, Williams has been working out in the Arizona heat with Chris Samuels, Derrick Dockery and Stephon Heyer. His weight loss is good news for Redskins fans seeking competition at right tackle--and it is good news for Williams and his long-term health. It shows Williams’ commitment and determination to renewing his NFL career.
I know there are a lot of IF's right now, but I'm getting excited. I'm trying to imagine a guy >450 lbs just a couple of months ago, and how long it really takes to get back into football stamina & shape. BUT, you *cannot* question his determination.
Great to hear he's practicing with the rest of the O-line in Arizona.. I want them to be glued together.
DBUCHANON101 07-17-2009, 11:12 PM How bout putting him at OG? doesnt have to be too light on his feet in the 'box'
Just a thought.

#1 Yeah, if he brings that determination to the gridiron, he might be a real contributor, especially since a knock against him previously was that he did not show such determination.
#2 Right on. It sounds like the O-line is prepping excellently. On this point, Philly's new O-line makes me wonder. They can't just have talent, they have to come together as a unit, and no one knows right now if that will happen.

He's definitely putting the effort in. What he's doing is no easy task. I admire the guy for that. The tighter these guys are together the better. O-linemen are like a seperate club amongst themselves anyway. Good to see them being a close-knit bunch!

I agree 100% on this. I could be wrong, but i have this feeling that Philly's line is going to be more about the individuals not the group. I think with Dockery, Samuels, and even M Williams we could have a line that becomes a strength. Granted that injuries could change that, but with just two weeks until TC I am definitely getting syked for our season.
BaltimoreSkins 07-18-2009, 10:54 AM Losing ~ 100 lbs so quickly is great and he seems to have much more determination than I was giving him credit for originally. He could be a really nice asset come mid season when he is more comprehensively in shape and we start seeing wear and tear.
