If he's drafted by the Redskins, it will be a smooth, easy transiton from college and he'll be groomed by one of the best QB teachers in the game.
I'm not sure you draft a guy because we have that current system in place given our history of constant change in coaches and schemes. What happens if Zorn goes 4-12 next year (not predicting this, just saying "what if") then do you really think Snyder will keep Zorn around? Or will he go after the next big thing...maybe even Cowher? We don't have the consistancy in our coaching staff to do something like this.

Cowher already said no. We wouldn't have Zorn if any of the other big names had said yes. They said no.

Spurrier said no a few times before he said yes too. How do you know he will say no to 5 mil+ next year? Not saying he will say yes, but if Zorn goes 4-12, you bet your ass Snyder will be on the phone with his check book open!

The reason plain and simple is that the Redskins lost confidence in JC. They no longer believe that he is in their long term plans. And QB is the most important position on the team. When you look at this decision you have to look at it from the point where they already decided that Jason is not the answer...then what do you do? I think if you eliminate JC from the equation it's easier to conclude that Sanchez is the right pick. What most Redskins fans are doing is saying the Redskins are wrong and Jason can be the answer.
I rather wait a year and get a McCoy or Bradford still. I have said in the other threads that the main reason this guy shouldn't be so hyped up is that USC is really the only real football team left in the Pac-10 anymore. I mean they have been stacked for what, close to a decade now with talent. They probably could have beat some lower tier NFL teams they have been so stacked with talent and speed as of late. Remember the debate over whether JC was really all that great at Auburn or did he flourish since he had 2 first round pick HBs lining up behind him? The same type of question needs to be asked about Sanchez. Hard to look average or medicore if you have that much talent around you!!!! You probably could say the same about McCouy or Bradford to be fair about it, but damn they play in the Big 12, which is a lot more physical than the Pac-10.

I don't really ever nit-pick your posts but this i have to poke at. Snyder will do whatever to protect his investment? Really? At what point has he shown any inclination to do that...we gave up a lot for JC but have allowed 2-3 years to pass w/o giving an honest effort to address the o-line. Snyder does things backward...doesn't build a system and plug a QB into it like the successful teams. Sanchez is nothing special to build around from what can be seen so it's still the same ole same ole.
Can't agree any more Goat. Without the O line upgrade, Snyder could somehow pull Peyton Manning out of his ass and we would still be an average team. Manning wouldn't last the whole season with this aging bunch of slobs.

Nice thread. Considering how things look right now, I think it's a good idea to kind of get comfortable with the idea of having Sanchez be our QB. I do like that he has a quick release and can hit his receivers in stride. It's also a plus that the offense he played in at USC is a lot like the one Zorn is trying to implement.
p.s. is anyone else extremely excited (or worried) for Saturday so we can finally move on, in whatever direction that may be?
Yes. I still think this Sanchez stuff is all smoke and so I'd be happy move on to other topics of discussion. I hope that soon we are discussing how Oher or Ayers is gonna make the team better and Denver fans are talking about Sanchez.

I hope we get a linemen no matter what side of the ball at this point. The only USC guy I want is a LB!!!!!
