Reasons for drafting Sanchez53Fan 04-24-2009, 11:01 PM That's right. 4pm eastern. 53Fan 04-24-2009, 11:02 PM You are right on. This year is a bad qb year and next year looks different. Which is why Sanchez decided to come out this year instead of taking his coaches advice and playing his senior year. djnemo65 04-25-2009, 12:05 AM Don't worry, I'll be waking up at 5 am to catch the fireworks. Beemnseven 04-25-2009, 12:19 AM Staying Pat (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=4097260) We'll see if the words hold truth in less than 24 hours. Notice he said he's not trading next year's first round pick. He never said anything about next year's 2nd, 3rd, or a current player... Also from the article: He noted that the only time his club recently did swap the following year's No. 1 pick, it was to acquire quarterback Jason Campbell in 2005 -- "and it worked out quite well," Snyder said. So well in fact, that they can't wait to get rid of him. Hamoskinz 04-25-2009, 12:36 AM Thanks for the info. Its too early to drink beer at 9am, considering I need to get drunk by the time we trade up to get Sanchez. Cheers and don't get too disappointed if we trade our 1st pick this year, next year's and our 3rd to get Sanchez... Try to see the silver lining (if any). I really don't see a trade up. So it should be 11 o'clock your time before we pick if we stand pat and it may be mid-afternoon for you before we actually make a pick. I'd go ahead and chill that beer now. :) The Goat 04-25-2009, 12:44 AM Which is why Sanchez decided to come out this year instead of taking his coaches advice and playing his senior year. Totally agree...he would have been just one among several (better) prospects next year. Smart kid...doesn't mean there's good football to be had there. SBXVII 04-25-2009, 12:46 AM Partly due to the Skins themselves, Campbell has had to learn something like 7 offensive systems in the past 9 years. I don't know whats going on in Campbells head, but on some level, thats had to have some sort of affect on him. BHA, I'm not trying to be a dirt ball but I'm kinda tired of all the excuses. I'm not blaming you I used them also and it all started with Ramsey. Poor guy had his bell rung too many time he got gun shy. QB's always took hits through out their careers. Ramsey still sucks and he's been to many different teams. I honestly like JC's personality. I like that he's calm but he seems way too calm. If given a decent 2 min. drill he would need 4. He's just one of those people that is never in a hurry. The friend who you complain about taking his time getting ready to go out. I like JC but even last yr felt change was needed, but who do we use? Collins, I don't think so. Colt was a Rookie and probably still has things he needs to learn. What kind of beer drinker are you? Beemnseven 04-25-2009, 01:14 AM BHA, I'm not trying to be a dirt ball but I'm kinda tired of all the excuses. I said this in another thread, but on some level I'm really trying to convince myself that drafting Sanchez might not be such a bad idea after all. And you make a good point about Jason's demeanor. I think we all have to ask ourselves this question: What are the actual chances that Jason is destined to be an absolute superstar headed for Super Bowl MVP awards and a spot in the Hall of Fame? Doesn't someone like that have to show us more than what we've seen? Even when things around him aren't perfect, like the best O-line in the league and Pro Bowl wideouts? The truly great quarterbacks have something that makes everyone around them better. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, Jason Campbell isn't that quarterback, and that he may never be? |
