Yes...and he is also a year older. I didn't argue that he was a has-been. I in fact called him a tight end god. I argued that it is he is at an age where decline begins.

Perhaps, but even if his play falls off to something like 60 catches for the next few years I think they'll get their moneys worth. Good deal for Atlanta especially considering they didn't have to give up a pick this year.

I argued that a #2 is too steep a price. Gonzalez himself agreed with me last October:

Too steep? I'm surprised they didn't get more for him actually.

Yeah he's only coming off his 2nd straight 1,000 yard season and 90+ catches

In a lame offense nonetheless. Now he's got Roddy White, Michael Turner, and no-longer-a-rookie QB Matt Ryan. He could have a few really good years in that ATL offense. Definitely worth a 2nd rounder a year from now. Good move for Atlanta.

If they get some help on D with this draft they could be scary.

The fact that they have a legit, young set of triplets in Ryan, White, and Turner means to me they'll be good for a while. Their D needs a fair amount of help, but Mike Smith will have it up and running sooner rather than later.

Yeah that offense is looking very formidable now.

Yeah that offense is looking very formidable now.Yeah, who would have thought there's more to building an NFL team than 1) picking in the top five, and 2) getting lucky with your evaluations. Not me, that's for sure.

I have to be consistent here: I hated when the Redskins dealt a second rounder for a mid-30s player who was about to dropoff severely, and it doesn't make any more since for a young Falcons team. They really seem to be underestimating how much of that +7 win improvement was due to unrepeatable circumstance. Not unlike Cleveland last year.

With that said, they are still set on improving via the draft this year, so they have that on the Browns.

I would be greatly upset with the FO if we trade Cooley away - he is one of the best TEs in NFL (plus he's young).. (Just as I would be w/ the FO if we draft Sanchez but) Unfortunately, my feelings nor any other fans' doesn't matter to Redskins FO and I would continue to be Redskins fan, no matter what.. That will be difficult for me - hating and loving Redskins at same time..

I know, we have Fred Davis but he hasn't shown anything on field yet.. Do we really want to gamble on Davis?

I like Chris Cooleys game bro he is just a beast when gets the ball in his hands. I hope instead of using Cooley we can trade Davis. He is young and has the skills to be a very good TE. We better keep Cooley or we must be losing our dam minds in the Front Office.
