For those that have been there before, give me some must see/eat/drink/music places to check out.

Anything on the main drag if you want to make it back home alive.

I know at one bar he got the owner to add Hail To The Redskins to the jukebox, but I'm not sure what the place is called.

Okay...

The most important place you need to go is Pat O'Briens (718 St. Peter), pretty much whatever you want: outside with cigars, pianos indoors, main bar, it's awesome; they invented the Hurricane, you gotta get one!

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop and Bar is off the chain. It's probably the most "local" place to go on Bourbon...it's all the way at the end and it's badass. Get a Hurricane.

I'd recommend grabbing a Hand Grenade at Tropical Isle just to experience the drink, but don't stay, you'll be surrounded by a bunch of "21 year olds" who can't hold their liquor.

Outside of that it depends on what you're looking for; Utopia is alright for a club, but I don't do clubs.

As far as Jazz: I've heard good things about Bombay Club, but I've never been so I can't vouch for it.

Definitely hit Pirate's Alley. It's right by St. Louis Cathedral. There's a bar down there that serves decent Absinthe. I think it's called The Old Absinthe House...you can't miss it.

Finally, I really like Club Decatur as a place to chill and hit an 11 am happy hour. That's right...11 am.

As far as food: You have to get a Muffaletta at Central Grocery, Beignets at Cafe Du Monde, and I'd recommend a Po Boy at Deanie's. Also, if you go Uptown, there's Superior Grill which is awesome and if you want to party with college kids you can always go to the Boot, The Raven or Bruno's (I don't know that I recommend this, Tulane kids get crazy on weekends).

Touristy stuff: Walk around the French Quarter and go wherever strikes your fancy, the quarter is awesome. JAX Brewery is pretty cool, but there's not much to it, a few good places to eat/drink, though. Also, I'd visit St. Louis Cathedral, I'm not even religious and I appreciated it and it's right in Jackson Square where there's always Jazz and stuff going on.

My only advice: Dress for a ridiculously hot trip. NOLA in May is going to kill.

I hate to be obvious, but if you like to relax and watch the River and people walking, go to Cafe Du Monde (http://www.cafedumonde.com/). I went to New Orleans, and my first night some friends and I sat there watching everything and having coffee/beignets. One of the most enjoyable moments in my life.
