TheSmurfs22 04-20-2009, 04:23 PM Honestly who cares what this guy thinks. Most of these radio and tv hacks were guys who never played a sport a day in their life, and if they did they probably sucked. This is their way of now getting back at those coaches who cut them and players who beat them out.
I stopped listening to him when I started to realize he's not really insightful, just a simple shock jock that knows how stir it up and continue getting people to call in and argue with him. As long as the ratings are good, he's working.
Yeah he gets old quick.
I'm the best, I know everything, don't question me, you're dumb, I'm smart.
Yawn.

Zerohero 04-20-2009, 04:27 PM I think most mediocre teams are a few great players away from perrenial success, thats my crazy opinion.
redsk1 04-20-2009, 04:28 PM This is not a bash Cowherd thread, it is a self exam of us Skins fans. Yes/No. Do we think were a top organization, a few players away, almost a contender?

I think the NFL proves every year that if a few things fall in place anyone can "contend".
CRedskinsRule 04-20-2009, 04:37 PM If Arizona made it to the SB, or the Giants the year before, any team might strike it rich and get to the SB, but are we ready to be a perennial elite team. I don't know. And until we stop jumping from coach to coach, system to system, etc, and stay with one long enough for the roots to grow deep, we will never know. One of the best things about Zorn, when he was hired was he is at the prime age to be here 8-10 years. At 55, i believe, he has a good chance of putting it all together and developing his system. And I thought Snyder understood that when he brought him in. If he is trying to imitate Holmgren or Reid's successes, then he will let patience rule the day. And if he does, then maybe the next decade will leave a better memory than this one has.

Are we a well run organization: Long answer: Unknown. We have undergone a lot of turmoil the last 10 years. That's to be expected with an ownership change. Gibbs' brought stability and class that was sorely needed. Last year was VC's first year officially calling the shots, so the jury's still out. A lot will depend on how the draft goes and the 2009 season goes before that determination can be made.
Short answer: Based on the last 10 years of W-L, No.
Are we a contender: Yes, we have holes like every other NFL team, but we were 6-2 to start the year before the OL broke down and we ran into a few real solid defenses. We fix the OL and have a fairly injury free season (knock on wood) and we're 10-6 / 11-5 and in the playoffs.
On Cowherd and his Skins fan rant, how quickly he forgets both Manning and McNabb were on the verge of being run out of their respective cities by the fans before Manning had the SB run in 2007 and McNabb closed out 2008 strong. On Dallas fans, (excluding a couple of members here) for the most part they're just either morons who think their team can do no wrong or closet dwellers when they lose.
jdlea 04-20-2009, 04:41 PM I pretty much never say this, but Colin Cowherd is a moron and I don't care what he says. His show sucks and so do his research abilities.

BINGO,as I have said before, in this league it's better to be lucky then good!
