I was watching NFL Network and Solmon Wilcox gave the Draft Grades for the NFC East since 2004.
1. NY Giants: A Drafted 19 starting players.
2. Eagles : B Drafted 14 starting players.
3. Cowboys: A Drafted 17 starting players.
4. Redskins : D Drafted 9 starting players.

This is why we have know young talent at the O-Line or D-Line postions, cause we like to go after other teams veteran lineman. The Last 2 offensive line we drafted higher than the 3rd round since 2000 has to be Samuels and Jansen. Thats a D** Shame.

Anyone think we should be a more defensive mind team like Baltimore, Steelers, and Titans. If we focus mainly on our defense by strengthen our DE, and Linebackers this would give us a solid top 5 defense. Lets face it we have not had a scoring offense since maybe Nov Turner. This is just a thought guys because we just dont have enough picks to fill all the holes so lets just try to draft for our defense to keep us in games. Next year we draft strictly for the O-line. 1step and 1 year at a time. Lets be real its going to take some time to fix this mess.

Redskins Eye Defensive Ends In Draft (http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/Redskins_Eye_Defensive_Ends_In_Draft_33938.jsp)

I've said DE in the Draft for thirteen years straight! Of course, this year I was thinking OL! LOL!

Good move! Apparently, you have psyched them out by thinking OL this year. Now, we'll finally get that DE we need.

I think Tyson Jackson would be a great fit for us at LDE.

If Lawrence Sidbury can play SLB, then he'd be a heckuva pick in Round 3. He is a great athlete and football player.

Draft defense. If they can't score, then they can't beat us.

Yes. But we can do a little of both if we trade down and pick up a 2nd round pick. Draft for need. Pick up a DE, a SLB, and a RT. After that, I'd look at OL's and DB's the rest of the way, hoping to get lucky with a late pick.

Larry Michael is a company man. This is why I love Brian Mitchell - he keeps it REAL!

Brian Mitchell is a pure, unadulterated Skins hater. Ever since he got released in '99 he hasn't had anything positvie to say about the organization! He's like the ex-girlfriend who wanted to marry you but you dumped her right before Valentine's day, they're always gonna hate you! You can actually see him smirking in pleasure after each one of our losses on the post-game show. How can you be a B&G fan and listen to that dude? He's an Eagle...cause he's always player "catcher" for Andy Reid.

I hate that guy and wish Snyder would fire him from 980!

Well a DE @ 13 only makes sense if all 4 top OTs are gone, Rey is gone and we can't get jack shit trading down. I see DE as maybe our 4th need after LB, OT, C and possibly guard, and I just don't comprehend the hype among some folks for drafting one. Daniels/Wynn rotating = very good runstopping w/ the occasional sack/pressure on the QB. We can swing big Al to LDE here and there and still have a very good DT rotation left in the middle (personally I think this setup will yield regular sacks). And last our quickest DT Lorenzo is practicing at LDE now...I think this kid might be a real diamond in the rough for us. Blache is a pretty creative schemer so I just don't see DE as a big issue, but what the hell if Orakpo falls he'd be hard to pass on just like Raji.

...Rey will help us more than Orakpo though as he's a bigger upgrade at LB than Orakpo will be for us at LDE :)

I agree! Plus Rey doesn't have the "bust" factor that Orakpo/Ayers have!

Hmm...does this include starters that we traded our draft picks for?
We need to compare apples to apples...many of these teams rarely leverage picks for guaranteed starters...of course we can argue if that is a good strategy or not...but I doubt this analysis is fully complete

Yes! I'm to blame for all of the OLD FO strategy! Whatever I said, VC/Dan/Norv/Spurrier/Marty/and HOF Coach Gibbs all went in the opposite direction! VC will probably wrangle all of the credit for this NEW Improved Draft Strategy, however!

I never would have gone after two WR's and a TE in the 2nd round last year! Who ever would have thought that one up? I was pulling for a DE with the first pick, and was thrilled when the B&G wound up with a trade down for more picks. Then I was like W H A A A T???????

You are correct about comparing apples to apples and taking into account starters acquired by trades. In Wilcots' defense, he was trying to isolate draft performance only.

What stood out to me was this: The Giants have been the most dominant team in the division over the last couple of years and 19 of 22 of their starters came through the draft. It seems like there is a lesson there.

Then again, the wheels came off of the Giants bus last year when they lost Burress, whom they had acquired through free agency.
