Pass. Draft a guy and allow the coaching staff to develop the guy.
Jason Peters on the trade block...hail_2_da_skins 04-13-2009, 11:27 AM Pass. Draft a guy and allow the coaching staff to develop the guy. Skinny Tee 04-13-2009, 12:13 PM Just to be an ass. How can you say in one sentence that he was undrafted, and look at him now. And then in the next sentence say that the draft has value. While i agree with you about the value of the draft, i don't see how his being undrafted and successfull supports that idea. That being said, absolutely not. Trade two 22 year old starters(1st and 3rd), for a 27 yr old starter making 3 times the money. That's poppy-cock. :) Unfortunately that is the Redskins MO. I don't support trading away any draft picks in any year but I'd certainly rather give up a 1st and 3rd for an OL this year than QB. GMScud 04-13-2009, 12:54 PM Just to be an ass. That's poppy-cock. :) If a guy of this caliber slipped all the way out of the draft, it's yet another sign of the value draft picks have. Obviously every team made a mistake passing on him. But the point is, those teams had the opportunity to pick him. Those opportunities vanish if you don't have picks. Monksdown 04-13-2009, 02:25 PM The value of the draft depreciates if every team misses on a stud, because clearly it's a tool not fully understood or utilized. If you keep your entire allotment of draft picks then your chances of hitting any of those picks improves dramatically. I don't think our FO has that part down yet. vallin21 04-13-2009, 02:54 PM Many people have already said this, but it just doesn't make sense to trade a 1st and 3rd for a 27 yr old wanting big LT money knowing he would play RT doesn't makes sense, but we all know the Redskins are known to make moves that backfire in their face. tryfuhl 04-13-2009, 05:03 PM That search thing sure can be a pain. ahh, I didn't remember that topic from then side note not relating to this particular topic -- why do so many people complain about new threads on something that may have gotten a mention in a 30 page topic that's vague? I personally like not having all topics clusterscrewed together, makes it easier to follow a single subject and might possibly keep the Campbell should/should not be our QB out of certain topics haha 20some page threads with 11ty players being discussed = mess and doesn't present itself well kinda the reason newspapers have headlines instead of one huge long paragraph with nothing emphasized are we encouraged to seek any discussions of it even if it's not clear in the title or is it okay to start a new thread? Inevitably topics will be mentioned (to various degrees) in multiple threads. Everything is intertwined ultimately. Still, we try to discourage and control (as best possible) multiple threads on the exact same topic. One thread on Ways to Improve our OL, another on Andre Smith, and another on Jason Peters that's fine and information will probably overlap there Two threads on Jason Peters (and when I say "on" I mean the inital intent of the thread) seems a bit unneccessary. Especially when not much new information has happened. But all that, to me, is secondary that once again Daseal has complained about how the site is run (does anyone else remember when he was "done with this site"?), yet apparently can't or won't just do a simple search. tryfuhl 04-13-2009, 05:51 PM Inevitably topics will be mentioned (to various degrees) in multiple threads. Got it. I see where you're coming from, granted that thread had been dead for nearly a month, but searching isn't hard. Daseal 04-13-2009, 06:58 PM As tryfuhl said -- dead for over a month. I don't like digging up old threads on the same player when new information has come available. NFLNick was dead on with what Buffalo was going to do (except he expected them to want a bit less in compensation, but I think they will drop that down some.) Perhaps I should have done a search and posted at the end of that because it's not different enough. I know I'm not in the boat alone with being sick of topic titles being changed and having to go to page 30-35 to find the results. Over moderating is certainly a problem on that board, in my opinion. And I feel you do a majority of it Smootsmack. This thread is on me -- yet I stand by my original statement. As far as being done with the site, I rarely read or contribute to the Locker Room section anymore. I'll scan topics, then head to the off-topic forum to see if anything's new. |
