FRPLG 04-02-2009, 06:37 PM You can't say that CB is the QB of the future if JC fails, what can you base that on? I mean he might get a start or season, but it's not like we won't bring in some vet or possibly draft one
I can because I read this board and a certain someone who has a little bit of insider info has stated that many in the org have their collective panties in a wad for CB. I am not saying he SHOULD, I am saying right now he is their comfortable fallback if JC doesn't throw down this year like everyone expects and wants him to.
GMScud 04-02-2009, 06:41 PM Man am I relieved we didn't touch that. I'm just hoping that after Campbell rips it up this year he won't tell the Skins to kiss his ass. How could you really be happy playing somewhere you know you're not wanted? Poor guy, I feel sorry for him and after reading his comments you can't help but to feel even worse. He deserves another year after all the BS and inconsistency he's been through in the past few years. Light it up and prove'm wrong JC!
Unlike Cutler, Campbell is a big boy. He'll be just fine. He implied earlier on 980AM that he knows his teammates, coaches, and fans have his back. He understands the Cutler advocates were in the minority. The good news is, he doesn't have to be buddies with Danny Boy and Sergeant Cerrato to perform well for the team.
Cooley1 04-02-2009, 06:42 PM p.s. Great job by Comcast Sports (local DC network) showing a stupid tennis match rather than showing Washington Post Live.
Right.....! I was pissed off about that.

We shall see this preseason. I think everyone needs to chill out because JC is in a contract year. If he is going to be great, we will see it this season or he will be gone. He knows this, we know this, and CB has this preseason and next preseason to prove to us that he is ready to take the reigns if JC falters. If JC is not our guy, CB will have ample opportunity to beat out whoever we draft or sign to replace JC.

Brennan has the tools for sure, but so does JC. Thing is by 2010 you need a new QB anyway to replace Collins and possibly JC. Going for McCoy or Bramford wouldn't be a bad plan if Brennan doesn't pan out or gets hurt, etc. Either way we are going to need a new QB in the fold soon. Might as well have another gunslinger, one from a bigtime college program to boot!!!!
gully 04-02-2009, 06:52 PM I'm actually very pleased that Dan didn't "win" this contest. I'm not convinced that Cutler is actually any better than JC, and I am absolutely convinced that JC hasn't had a real shot. That's what this year should be for: It's basically a career year for JC, Zorn, Vinny, and his second round play makers from last year's draft.
I'm more interested in them watching them sink or swim together rather than having another year with a mulligan attached.
JWsleep 04-02-2009, 06:52 PM Wow. If our FO had made this deal... I shudder to think what might have happened.
Saved by the Bears. Didn't they also take AA off our hands?
We'll see about JC.
Stuck in TX 04-02-2009, 06:55 PM We'll see about JC.
Not only with his skill, but how he handles controversy. If the rumors are true, he has been given the proverbial middle finger by our FO. So far (granted, maaaybe an hour has gone by...), so good.
Paintrain 04-02-2009, 06:58 PM So after 48 frenzied hours and endless speculation, we're right back where we started. I'd think we need to go ahead and extend Campbell for 3 years now so we don't have to live with the 'they tried to trade you' garbage all pre-season and season. Without that, we're going to be back to 'what are we going to do at QB' speculation next offseason.
