tryfuhl 04-02-2009, 12:25 AM It certainly wont hurt much, but to teach an old dog new tricks is different than converting a drafted rookie from DE to OLB.
My gut is telling me this aint gunna work, but it is worth a shot, I like Wilson.
The thing that is scary is that it has come to this.
What we need is a real OLB and a real DE not someone who plays one on TV
He said he's played it before.. I don't know at what level though. Pretty sure he was DE in the CFL
Hamoskinz 04-02-2009, 12:46 AM Good. He adds another dimension to our pass rush from the OLB position but can he cover is the million $ question.
mrreddman 04-02-2009, 12:47 AM I really like the move. He does not seem like he will get too much time at DE now with Carter, Daniels, Wynn(errrr), Jackson, Buzbee and whoever else they add. And he is similiar in style and stature to Jason Taylor and MW. They were gonna play JT at LB on 1st and 2nd down and DE on 3rd, so why cant they try the same thing with Wilson? Really...what other options do we have? Fincher? Blades?....maybe Cambpell? If we dont draft Rey or resign MW, I think Wilson is the best option we currently have.

And if we don't take Suisham or Rayner, I think Phillip Daniels is the best option we currently have at kicker (I heard they snuck a spring in his knee during his surgery).
I think an LB that's been playing LB for his whole career will be better than a guy that just switched. I think Fincher or Campbell would be better, but I would like to see Wilson in there too, but have him be blitzing at least half the time, or he could line up at DE and drop into coverage and have a LB blitz from someplace else. I feel like Blache gets too simple with the D which is why we don't cause havoc and cause turnovers like how the Ravens and Steelers are always mixing up defenses with their pre-snap alignments. Yes, they run the 3-4 so it's different, but I'm getting tired of the bend and don't break, we need to mix things up a little more. In general I'm real happy with the defense, but you gotta complain about something.
SmootSmack 04-02-2009, 02:21 AM ah SmootSmacks, u were right.. I like the idea, as well.. What I didn't realize is that M. Washington shares similar physical, just like with Jason Taylor..
In fairness, I think JoeRedskin may have been the very first to suggest this

damnit, when did original ideas start counting here?
I'M BACK TO ES!!!
diehard 04-02-2009, 11:39 AM No use. He can't cover.
celts32 04-02-2009, 11:41 AM It can't hurt...long as they figure out before September if it's a mistake.

like everyone else i like the idea of giving chris a shot at olb this preseason. i didnt think of your thought redman of how stacked (with average talent thoo) at DE we are until you mentioned it. yeah he is going to have a hard time getting enough snaps with that log jam.
no matter whom we had cover witten; be it MW, lemar marshall, etc. after 15 yards none of our olbs could cover the guy so why not give wilson a chance. witten is going to get his catches going man against any one of our olbs anyway.
go skins!!
dall-assblows 04-03-2009, 03:45 PM FROGS haha so true. I have an idea for OLB...............REY MAGAGAWIA how ever you spell it.................
