If we don't get Cutler, should we extend Campbell?

What the hell are we doing here? Can we have just one normal off season. Jason Campbell can be just as an effective QB as Jay Culter if he is surrounded by the right talent. There is no way that we should give up any picks for Jay Culter, we have more glaring needs on this team that we should focus on. After everyone in the Redskins organization swore that they had no intrest in Culter and to have this story come and stab Jason in the back is why we are known as the ass clowns of the league. I can only hope and pray that this story is not true and they are just using the Redskins to generate intrest from other teams. Wait, who am I kidding.... :bs:
I feel sorry for Jason right now.

lol nah man ofcourse not! this is the Redskins were talking about! they dont understand the phrase "Normal Off-season"=] sooo just sit back, relaxe and enjoy the ever spinning days in the life of the Redskins Front office! :food-smil

I don't think that Dan Snyder would allow Vinny to extend the contract of a QB that Dan clearly doesn't want.

Now that the cat's out of the bag, if the trade for Cutler doesn't go through Jason Campbell doesn't have a hair on his ass if he doesn't boycott all team activities and force the Skins to trade him.

I think we can now fairly assume that most of the crazy stuff done by the Skins FO originated in the mind of Dan Snyder.

Jason Campbell is not a crybaby like Cutler.

Dirtbag, no one is going to give us shit for Campbell. That's the problem here. If every team values Campbell like we do, we'll have to release him next week or so.

When you have an asset that needs to mature, you hold onto to it. That business 101. Cutler's value is at an all time high, and we're actually considering doing that.

I think it will be the 13th pick, a second rounder in 2010, and Carlos Rogers for Jay Cutler. At which point, Campbell becomes a sunk cost.

Essentially, if I'm predicting correctly we give up two great young players, the chance at two more great young players, and do it all to get one great young player. That's essentially how it's going to break down.

What do you mean? Many teams would give us something for Campbell. KC, the Jets, Lions, Vikings, hell even Denver might go for him He is a starting QB, that in itself is worth something. I mean come on Tripp, we have been having our friendly debate with the Gus/JC thing and now you say nobody will offer us even a second round pick or two for JC? Shit, look at Gus, they have had his ass all over the place. JC is better than Gus dude, at this point in time for sure. There are at least half a dozen teams that need a starter, that is why it probably will involve a third team.

He'll be a starter in this league next year. We're just erasing all value he has to us by having interest in Cutler.

JC's value is far higher in DC than elsewhere, having spent a full season learning Zorn's brand new offense. I don't believe other teams will give up much of anything for him either.

It's a business. Forcing a trade would be a way for Campbell to get a rich new contract from another team.

I think you may be overstating your case a little. I don't doubt that what the Skins are doing is hurting his trade value to some extent but he is still a capable QB who, I agree, will be a starter somewhere. So, I think he would have a relatively high value in a QB-starved league.

Campbell: "I was definitely looking forward to being in the same offense for another year and seeing what we could together..."

He said it like it was past tense. Maybe I'm reading into it too much. Or maybe he knows he's already gone...

Either way this effing blows.
