SFREDSKIN 04-02-2009, 04:33 PM Wow, Wilbon really hates the Redskins, doesn't he?

Awesome article!! I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not Wilbon fan, but he nailed it on this article.

Actually I always thought Wilbon has a soft spot for the Skins, but this lunacy is making many a fan -who thought Gibbs 2's lesson were all about patience, winning from within, character counts etc - sick. At least it is making me sick.

I find it hard to argue with any of his points.
T.O.Killa 04-02-2009, 04:39 PM Last year we played 6 division games, all against top 10 defenses. Played the Steelers and Ravens, both top 10 defenses. We also played the Bengals(12th) and the 49ers(13th). That is 10 games against the better defenses in the league, Cutler can't say he did anything close.
I am not sure we scored 30 point in any game last year. Most of the time we cant score more that five field goals. If Campbell was such a talent then why wont anyone give a second round pick for a franchise quarterback.

GMScud 04-02-2009, 04:42 PM Anyone who makes excuses for Cutler's record on account of Denver's poor defense need look no further than our injured, decaying offensive line for Campbell's struggles down the stretch last year.
Both players were 8-8 last year with nearly identical passer ratings. We were a much more run oriented team last year, and Denver lost like 8 RBs to injury. Their O-line was superior to ours, especially in pass protection, not to mention their receivers WAY outperformed ours. They threw more often due to a piss poor defense and decimated backfield, thus the inflated yardage stats.
Another thing to consider is the caliber of defenses each QB faced. Denver got to see the likes of the AFC West. We play the Giants, Eagles, and Cowboys twice apiece, not too mention the likes of Pitt and Baltimore.
Cutler is no more of a winner or leader than Jason, side by side their passing efficiency is very similar, and Jason throws far less INTs.
Again, in a straight up deal I'd take Cutler of JC. But what we're supposedly offering for this crybaby malcontent is just too much IMO.
T.O.Killa 04-02-2009, 04:44 PM Incorrect. They traded their 06 1st rounder & a 3rd rounder for Denver's 05 1st rounder. The net loss was only a 3rd round pick. Best move of Joe Gibbs II IMO.
I cant remember exactly how we traded up for Campbell, but we gave up alot to get him.
Here is a part of JLC Insider:
"If the Skins make a trade for picks only, and Denver does not want Jason Campbell (and the delay in the trade has led several executives to assume that is the case), then the trade value for the quarterback will drop more. The Skins were seeking a second-rounder for Campbell (they dealt multiple picks in order to move up in the draft and take him in 2005) but two executives said that if the Skins are stuck with Cutler and Campbell, they may have to settle for a third or worse. No one would be rushing to help alleviate Washington's problems now, and the execs said it would be silly for a club to go ahead and trade a second for Campbell, given the uncertainty with the Cutler deal."

Trade is imminent??
Listening to Wilcots and Schein today on NFL radio they were both saying that trading for Cutler is a no-brainer for teams like the Jets, Vikes, Skins, etc. And neither had a problem with giving up 2 first rounders.
SmootSmack 04-02-2009, 04:49 PM I am Jason Campbell...actually, I'm not. But I just had my peformance review and my boss said "your leadership style is effective but kind of laid-back, so just be sure that people aren't confusing that with lack of desire or assertiveness" and I thought "I'm Jason Campbell!"
