Defensewins 04-02-2009, 03:35 PM This comment says so much, Cutler did not play in the NFC east, he did not go against 3 top 10 defenses within his own devision 6 times. There was no top 10 defense in the AFC west. He also had to throw the football because of no running game, this is why he had the passing yards that many are in love with. We should look more to the passing efficiency numbers for this pass happy guy, we will see no viable improvement over what we have, and we will still keep our draft picks to improve our weaknesses.
Last year when Cutler played against a decent defense he lost 41-7 to New England. You know NE that had a QB that had never started an NFL before last year.
Ruhskins 04-02-2009, 03:35 PM It's scary when you have two bad FO dealing with each other. If I were Denver, I would take this April Fool's joke (http://blogs.tampabay.com/bucs/2009/04/cutler-talk-elevator-music-to-mccown-.html) seriously and make the following offer:
McCown was amused by an April Fool's joke played by FOX Sports Radio that 'reported' Wednesday night Cutler had been traded to the Bucs for first and third round picks and defensive tackle Chris Hovan.
Once again, I feel that other teams have better offers than the Redskins, yet Denver will take our offer b/c they are just as stupid as we are for wanting to trade for Cutler.
skinsfan69 04-02-2009, 03:35 PM Proven Qb? Really?
As a full time starter Cutler in his entire NFL career went:
2007 record 7-9
2008 record 8-8
Yes he is a QB in the NFL. That is proven. But if you imply Cutler is the real deal like a Manning, McNabb or even Romo...no he is not.
PLEASE stop comparing the WL records. That means NOTHING! Again I hope we keep JC but if you took Cutler off of Denver they might win 3-5 games. He plays on a team with a terrible defense and no running game. Let's say Campbell had to play on a team with a real bad defense. What would his WL record be? The WL thing really isn't a smart way to compare the two.
GMScud 04-02-2009, 03:38 PM Imagine it's more of the same from last night but interested as well.
As usual, nothing but class from Jason Campbell. He said he would have no issue whatsoever playing for the Redskins in 2009 and beyond if the trade for Cutler falls through. This is b/c he knows he has the support of the fans and his teammates. When asked if he felt the Redskins were confident in him moving forward, he said he knows "the coaches are." Reading between the lines, this means everyone but Dan and Vinny.
Nothing major came out of the interview. Jason understands it's the nature of the business and took the high road, which you expect from a cool-headed, classy leader. Cutler could learn a thing or two from him.
Dirtbag59 04-02-2009, 03:38 PM Let me stress this again. One of our biggest problems over the last few years has been the inability to score in the Red Zone. I don't know the exact numbers but I wouldn't feel bad pitting Cutlers 25 TD passes against Campbell's 13 TD passes. And don't go off on Cutler having better recievers. 9/10 QB's make the recievers great, not the other way around.
Those 2 QB points are farther apart then you might think. Though I do get frustrated that people are trying to now pass off the O-Line as something that isn't important. "Oh Big Ben won without a good O-Line." The better argument for Cutler should be that he'll make quicker decisions and as a result our line will have more energy near the end of the game as the seconds saved pile up. Not "oh O-line isn't that important."

NoviSkins 04-02-2009, 03:48 PM From the looks of it, Matty better get started on a Cutler Avatar.

The top defense in the AFC west last year was ranked 25th(San Diego). Why can't good stats be complied by playing the worst teams.

Redskins actively pursuing Cutler (http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/04/02/redskins-in-the-mix-for-cutler/)

A decades-long pursuit for a franchise quarterback might lead to the Washington Redskins making a trade for disgruntled Denver Broncos QB Jay Cutler.
The Redskins were actively pursuing a trade for Cutler (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2009/04/01/ST2009040104370.html) on Wednesday, reports The Washington Post, citing NFL sources.
The NFL source told The Post that Redskins owner Dan Snyder has been pushing for the trade. However, the Redskins are declining to comment.
The Redskins figure to be competing with the Buccaneers and Jets at this moment, but Washington does have one advantage — it has a starting NFL quarterback, Jason Campbell, to dangle in a trade. Often lost in the Cutler trade talk is who will be the Broncos’ starting QB in 2009. Four NFL.com editors kicked around that issue in an Instant Debate (http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80f8de20&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true#recommend).
Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato and coach Jim Zorn publicly denied interest in Cutler during the annual NFL owners meeting last week. But that might just mean they are smoother than Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and coach Josh McDaniels when talking about potential trades.
The Post updated its initial report by saying the Redskins offered Campbell to an undisclosed team for a second-round draft pick. The Redskins are believed to be acquiring picks to build a package for Cutler. That could indicate that the Broncos don’t want Campbell and might be comfortable with Chris Simms or a rookie in the upcoming draft as their starter.
