Mark Sanchez at 13th?

Is that at #4 to Seattle? Assuming we do the TB deal, that's not terrible. We'd change QB and move into the 2nd round rather than the third. Same net number of picks and minus one next year. Of course I'd rather stand pat, trade up for Orapko at #9 or trade down but if it's gonna go down, I don't mind this deal.

So that would mean that all of our WR hopes would be placed on ARE, Thomas and Kelly. :confused-

How exactly? When we went up for Campbell we traded on the Thursday before into the bottom of the 1st and everyone knew we were targeting him. What would have happened if someone scooped him before us, how moronic would we have looked then?

I'm not talking about the trading up or trading down to acquire the player you want. What I'm talking about is the fact that when Joe Gibbs was here everything was done in a more professional manner. We didn't have the big top circus outside the front gate like we do now. There is nothing wrong with targeting your guy if that is who you want to get in the draft. All I'm saying is I wish we were a little more professional about the whole situation. (i.e. Patriots, Colts, Giants, Steelers, Eagles,etc.....)

Smoot, how crazy is it at that place? I mean between all the rumors, and people trying to get the scoop, I imagine it is quite a wild coffee room right now.

If I remember the projections right a lot of beginning mocks had all the OT's and DE's being gone by the time it got to our pick at 13. If, by feigning interest in Sanchez, we put pressure on at least one team ahead of us to get him instead of a DE/OT, then we have a better chance of having a player of need fall to us, plus if the 2nd of 3 first round qb's go, we increase the chance of a qb hungry team trading up to get Freeman at our spot.

So a perfect scenario now, may be: Denver, worried we were going to take Sanchez, drafts him at 12, then New York, thinking we are dissatisfied enough with Campbell to take Freeman, trades with us at 13 giving us there 1st and 2nd or 3rd to get Freeman. Thus we would have leveraged our supposed disinterest in JC to having multiple picks, and getting Mack, or another quality player that feels an area of need.

Good post and this is exactly what I'm hoping for. Vinny could surprise some people and this could actually happen. It makes the most sense, and is what I thought we were up to when all this crap about Sanchez started. Of course the more you hear, the harder it is to believe that we're not really after him, and that this is all just a smokescreen, but if it is.....well played FO.....well played.

Snyder should be leveraging the fact that we're going to suck next year into offering a 2010 third rounder instead of a second rounder.

Just saw a piece on SportsCenter about how risky drafting underclass QBs can be, followed up by Trent Dilfer raving about Sanchez being one of his "can't miss prospects".

I'm so confused. I'm excited about what Dilfer had to say, yet not thrilled about the idea of having a rookie under center.
