GTripp0012 04-19-2009, 04:35 PM If Campbell had been drafted by almost any other team, he'd be someones franchise QB and have signed a lucrative multi-year extension by now. He'd be someones franchise QB, and he'd be set for life. Instead, at best (due to circumstances largely out of his control) he's got a 50/50 chance right now of being a career clipboard holder. Through constant change and stupid front office and head coaching moves, the Redskins have taken a player with enormous potential and completely screwed him up. If Campbell somehow manages to succeed this year, i hope he refuses to sign an extension with the skins unless he gets a 6+year contract and the skins extend Zorn as well. Are you really the same guy who suggested that we trade him for whatever we could get?
The mismanagement angle is interesting, but premature. Sure, we seem to be hell-bent on screwing up our QB situation, but we haven't done anything wrong with Campbell yet. We just plan on screwing up is all.
Nflnick11 04-19-2009, 04:57 PM No wonder they're trying to get rid of Campbell.....we want a team that won't take no for an answer
Hahaha that's probably the funniest thing I've ever heard on this site ...
God I just want the draft to start already to much anticipation and excitement!

Mark Sanchez Loves Him Some Veal Chops
There have been times on this beat when I've felt as if I was writing for Page Six of the New York Post, but never more than now. As we reported last week, USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, a player Redskins owner Daniel Snyder covets in the upcoming draft, had an official visit with the Redskins on Friday and Saturday.
And, courtesy of the public relations staff of a local hotspot, we now are aware of more details about the activities of Sanchez and Redskins officials Friday night than we probably really needed to know, This was Sanchez's last official visit with any team - though he is slated to work out for the Broncos on Tuesday - and the Redskins could trade up to select him.
I'll let the PR staff for Il Mulino New York take over from here. This comes from their press release about Sanchez's dinner there:
"Friday night, guests at DC's hot spot IL MULINO NEW YORK on Vermont Ave. were in awe to see USC Quarterback Mark Sanchez, Redskins Owner Dan Snyder, Executive VP Vinny Cerrato, Head Coach Jim Zorn, and the Skins QB Coach. They began their evening by first enjoying some drinks outside on the patio, then all ventured inside to dine. With the NFL DRAFT upon us, they held their secret meeting in the Private Room in the back of the restaurant. The 6'3", 225 lb. Trojan from Mission Viejo, CA dined on a PASTA TRIO and a 16oz VEAL CHOP. He definitely cleaned his plate!!"
Two exclamation points and liberal use of all caps? What enthusiasm!!
Anyway, if you are among what appears to be a minority of fans who hope the Skins trade up to get Sanchez, I suppose you're hoping that veal was cooked to perfection. And for those wondering, Sanchez is 22, so it's perfectly cool if he was drinking something other than a Shirley Temple.
bertoskins2 04-19-2009, 08:40 PM other teams ahead of us is hot on sanchez, we have no chance unless we trade up (hope note)
GMScud 04-19-2009, 08:42 PM I wonder if all the other potential 1st rounders who visit the team are treated that way by the FO. Somehow I doubt it.
I'd like to yell at Dan Snyder.

I really hope Vinny or Danny aren't cheating on their wives because they would get caught in a heartbeat with this type of behavior.

Per my sources I hear that they take everyone else to McDonalds and if the meeting goes really well everyone gets apple pies and McFlurries.

I'd just like to own his banking account for a day...then I could BUY/OWN the SKINS! Then we wouldn't have all these damn problems! ;)
I don't know how other teams cater (kiss players asses) to players..? I have a feeling they might not get that special DC/Danny Boy kinda love though...?
Masshole 04-20-2009, 05:04 AM 1. If Snyder really wants Sanchez, he trades up with the Chiefs. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't one of Scott Pioli's people who were the inside sources telling McShay that the Seahawks wanted Sanchez (thereby making the Chiefs #3 pick the route to Sanchez, not the Jags #8 pick). Pioli:
A. was the co-architect of the Patriots, who always traded down and accumulated picks,
B. knows that when the Danny sees something shiny, he'll do everything in his power to get it. And that means this year's number 1, next year's number 1, and possibly next year's #3.
2. This is pure speculation, but I wonder if Snyder sees enormous marketing potential in having the first Hispanic superstar in the NFL. I'm not sure what the demographics are on hispanic football following, but not only is there a large Hispanic population here in the Washington area, the possibility of selling Sanchez Redskins jerseys in southern California where there is no team, where Sanchez went to college, and where there are of course millions of first and second generation Hispanics new to american football in an area without a football team... I mean, again, I'm just spit-balling here, but yeah, you've gotta think that the first Hispanic Franchise QB is going to be a goldmine. And you've gotta think Snyder knows this. I mean, he's taking the guy out to eat... this thing's getting done... utterly ridiculous.
Paintrain 04-20-2009, 10:14 AM Peter King's MMQB leads with the notion that Snyder is determined to get Sanchez. Mark Sanchez, Daniel Snyder, Scott Pioli pivotal in NFL Draft - Peter King - SI.com (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/peter_king/04/20/draft/index.html?eref=writers)
I still assert that if Cutler never became available and Snyder's appetite for a shiny new QB wasn't whetted then we'd not be having this discussion. The one positive in the article is that a source near Snyder says he won't allow next year's #1 pick included in any trade but come Saturday, we'll see what happens.

Great, great point! I think there is something to that because we all know that Snyder is about marketing and sales above virtually anything else. It's going to be an interesting, if not torturous week.
