I mean first of all Sanchez is a big mistake for us. But second doensn't it seem like a trade-down scenario is more likely than say a month ago? Basically, teams picking in the bottom third of the draft who really want a guy like Rey, a top DE, or one of the top 2 RB will need to trade up IMHO to get what they want. Teams picking after us up through Detroit at 20 desperately need RB, LB or DE help and I just really think the top talent at those positions will be gone after the 20th pick. I say this cuz guys like Cushing have fallen a bit and there just isn't a tremendous amount of impact talent at these positions after the first few on the board. My thinking is Vinny probably wants to trade-down like he did last year, though I'm not saying this is necessarily what I want. I mean if a team wants to trade up to 13, lose picks in the process, to grab a special player shouldn't we be looking at the player for ourselves?

Junior QBs have talent, but maturity might play bigger role in their futures (http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09000d5d80fb5670&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true)

Here are the facts:
1. Vinny Cerrato has publically said he wants to trade DOWN in this years draft.
2. The Redskins have 3 major needs are OT, DE, and LB and everyone knows it.
3. The Redskins, who have shown no interest in QB Jason Campbell have actively pursued Jay Cutler but were outbid at the last second by the Bears.
4. The Redskins are now actively showing interest in QB Mark Sanchez.
5. Mel Kiper says the Skins have something up their sleeve.

What do these facts tell us? Well, anything can happen, but i think there are two likely possibilities:

1. The Redskins are dead set on acquiring a franchise QB in the draft and are so determined, they don't care if everyone knows they are going to do it and it results in the move costing them much more than it otherwise would. The Redskins will attempt to trade up and draft Sanchez.

2. The Redskins will not draft a QB, or a OT, LB, or DE for that matter. They are targeting another player (likely RB or WR) and they want to make sure no one trades above them to select the player.

Right now, i'd weight the likelyhood of skins moves as follows:

A. Complete WTF Move (Drafting Moreno or trading up to draft Crabtree) - 35%
B. Drafting Mark Sanchez (possibly by trading up) - 30%
C. Trading Down - 20%
D. Drafting the best OT, LB, or DE available at 13 - 15%

Also, if Option D happens, id say there's greater than a 50% chance we trade our 2010 first rounder for additional picks.

Also, i'd say theres greater than a 50% chance that Carlos Rogers, Jason Campbell, or Santana Moss are traded on draft day. (Rogers and Moss have both been shopped this offseason. We've been unreasonably stingy despite having ample cap space. I beleive we're keeping the space to enable us to take the resulting cap hit if one of these players is traded).

Hey, I dont hate JC. I think he is the best role model and just a stand up guy. If the Redskins dont get rid of him, and he does well I would be the first to jump on the band wagon. With that said, I just dont think that he has the talent to lead us to the Superbowl. Even when we were 6-2, I was still skeptical. We were scoring field goals to win games that we should have blown open. I taped every game, and because I am neurotic watched them over and over again. The problem was not realy the O-Line, it was JC could not find the open reciever fast enough. Also, his dump off passes are inacurrate much of time. I think JC is a vertical passer. He is not siuted for the west coast system. Anyway, here is the link.

Hey man, I was kinda busting your chops from your the post Jay Cutler non-trade. I just checked the KFFL website and the links to the WashTimes were broken links. I was curious to know if there were other sources in addition to Mel Kiper about the team getting Sanchez at #13. Honestly, I think it's just all smoke screens.

I kinda agree with you regarding the offense, even when we were 6-2. However, I blame a lot of it on the offensive line, given that Portis was shut down in the second half of the season. I don't think we can be a balanced team, but this season our offense needs to be able to compliment the defense.

Why don't we actually read the story in the Washington Times?

Leftwich chooses Tampa - - Washington Times - Politics, Breaking News, US and World News (http://washingtontimes.com/weblogs/redskins/2009/apr/12/leftwich-chooses-tampa/)

(Heaven forbid anyone actually read)

Doesn't sound too firm huh?

If we don't have who we want on board at 13 I'd be open to trading to let the Broncos have their 12th AND the 13th and us picking up the 18th and 48th or so, a lil more to us on the "value chart" and still gives us the chance of picking up a good guy, though at 18 you're starting to get to the end of the first round talent, I guess I'd have to ask some of you guys that value the college players whether it'd be better or indifferent to have an 18th or say a 23rd.

Gotta love the youth and athleticism. I almost forgot what it looked like for a DE to get around the side of an OT and have the OT rotate around with him and keep him out of the play/off of the QB.

"Ryan O'Halloran, of The Washington Times, reports the Washington Redskins could possibly select Southern California QB Mark Sanchez with the No. 13 pick in the NFL Draft should Sanchez remain on the board."

If we DO draft Sanchez I'd imagine he'd sit for a year right? I mean showing lack of faith in Campbell really isn't going to give us much trade bait if we decided to trade him this year and possibly less next year right?
