Wouldn't be hilarious if one of them said, 'Well the GM seems like a dope and the coach is a tool but the cheerleaders are hot so if they drafted me it wouldn't completely suck.'
To answer the topic question though, it's Maualuga for me. He's got bad-ass written all over him and the thought of him and Landry cracking skulls on the defense for the next 8 years makes me very happy.
Wow it's almost like anyone but Sanchez is a god-send for me at this point. But yes my perfect draft is Rey for our 1st pick and then some clever trading that yields a high 2nd rd pick for the very best OL available...preferably Mack. Rey and Mack would put me on cloud nine.
...I don't understand the conventional wisdom that says DE is a critical need. I don't see it even close to OL and LB. A Daniels/Wynn rotation = serious runstopping w/ the occasional sack. Swinging big Al out to LDE (since we've got 3 remaining very capable DTs to rotate inside, w/ the probable emergence of a dominant Monty) adds another sweet scenario. And now Lorenzo, who coaches have been very high on, will get a shot at LDE. He always seemed like the quickest of our DTs so personally i'm excited to see what he can do there.
Anyway, i'm not holding my breath for either Rey or Mack cuz our FO feels FUBAR right now...i just hope this isn't one of the drafts that will live in infamy.

Me too. And a lot of opponents on their ass!

I would like for us to draft Rey Maualuga. He has been the most consistant of the USC linebackers. He does remind me of a Lavar Arrington type of player that brings a crushing hit on opposing players. This guy would give our defense a new attitude it lost since the death of Sean Taylor. Rey is also being taught by Ken Norton Jr. at USC who was a solid backer for the Cowboys and 49ers. Cushing looks like a Linebacker but has he maxed out his potenial. He may be another Brian Bozworth (LoL). Clay Matthews Jr. has great bloodlines and work ethic. He walked on at USC as a safety and bulked up to 245 pounds. He is probably the best in pass coverage but will he just be a average linebacker. We need impact player at #13. I think Rey has the best chance to be a pro bowl player of the bunch. Rey has that football instincts that you can't teach.
What do you guys think about the Lavar Arrington comparisons?

This point is so true. London brings that kind of action on occasion but w/ age the explosion factor begins to wane. Honestly i thought Laron would be this guy for us (and maybe he still can be) but the more I watch him i see Laron as a finesse player...i think he'll be a pro-bowl FS in the near future but it will be from coverage/INTs not necessarily blow-up hits. So yes i totally agree the missing link on our d is a Merrimen/Urlacher/Lewis type who just scares the shit out of opposing offenses. Rey is that guy, the hardest hitter in the '09 draft and plays a position we're suddenly very thin at.
...as much as our OL needs reinforcement I think we can do this in FA after the draft...but there's not gonna be another "Rey" available...and I'm beginning to question whether an OT aside from Monroe and the 2 Smith's can be an immediate impact player. Oher is being scouted more as a project now right? And beyond him i don't see a starter at RT. We may be wise to go get a surly vet off the market as Buges prefers them anyway.
...i'd still like to find a way to grab the best C/G available say w/ a high 2nd rd pick.

The more times goes by the more I think we'd be better off w/ Cushing. On the radio yesterday, Todd McShay, seemed to think BC would be a better pro than RM. He portrayed RM as a little out of control. See ball get ball. Does that remind you of anyone? Anyone? I won't mention the name.
