PennSkinsFan 03-26-2009, 11:43 AM Pimp our poll for our pre-Draft article we will be doing. Tell us, as of right now, pre-draft, what is the weakest position on the Washington redskins.

redskingrove 03-26-2009, 12:05 PM Definitely the O-line. We are long in the tooth with age, and as the season progresses so does the injuries. We need to solidify the O-line in the draft to supplement the beefed up defense we acquired in the off season. Our defense was a top tier defense last year as is, but our offense couldn't score. We need to provide time for Campbell to develop plays farther than 5 yard quick hitters. After a while, defenses pick up on this and load the box causing everything including the run game to be mediocre at best. If you don't believe it, just look at our starting first half record last year, then our finishing half record. Teams adjusted to the short game (which is all we had) and we gimped up in the home stretch.
PennSkinsFan 03-26-2009, 12:08 PM It was a tough call between DE and OT. Both are in critically bad shape. Granted, OT can be fixed via #13. But at this point, relying on Jansen or Heyer is pretty dismal. Plus, I am concerned about the lack of solid, young depth. Anytime you are relying on Phillip Daniels and Renaldo Wynn to anchor one of the DE spots, things are bad.
I went with RT
FRPLG 03-26-2009, 12:14 PM RT...if we start the season with Jansen or Heyer there then we're in trouble. You can't hide crappiness on the edge. We can muddle through with only mediocre talent at WR but that's only if we can protect our QB and block for our backs.
Definitely RT. We can get by for another year with Daniels, but there's no way I want to see us try to get by another year with Heyer/Jansen.
Slingin Sammy 33 03-26-2009, 12:29 PM OLB is our weakest spot right now. McIntosh hasn't gotten back to solid form. Washington is gone. I'm not sold on Blades as a full-time starter, Smith is a practice squad guy, Fincher's a special teamer.
RT - We have Heyer and Jansen, Heyer should improve this year and Jansen is supposedly injury free and can provide depth. Samuels still has 2-3 years left if he recovers from his injury late last season.
LDE - Wynn while long in the tooth, is serviceable against the run. Wilson, Buzbee, Jackson provide a rotation for passing downs. AC is solid at RDE.
Coaching is fine. The Front Office is an easy puching bag, but to dump on the FO (unjustifiably so) in every article/post on the blog gets old pretty quick.

I agree, and it's not something that is going to change anytime soon and certainly not via the draft.
redskingrove 03-26-2009, 01:40 PM We could pick up a DE in the later rounds of the draft. There are quality players there as well. Remember, Horton was a 7th rounder.
Eknox 03-26-2009, 04:33 PM I went with OT that would be RT...
