Most of the new rules like every year are bs. The main reason for them is to increase points per game because they think more people will watch. It is and always will be for now on about the money. They use "safety" for the player as an excuse to "better" the game. A lot of great defenders in football history would be handcuffed in todays game. I liked it when if a wr or rb got a 1,000 yards it was an accomplishment and not every team had a star at those positions.

I say they just put flags on the quarterback and be done with it.

Really. Maybe these guys are in the wrong profession. I'm not looking for anyone to get hurt, but the hit on Brady was a guy trying to make a play. It wasn't intentional. Worked out for Cassell pretty well. Players are going to get hurt sometimes. That's the chance they take for getting big money to play a game. Let's face it, one of the big attractions of playing football is to be able to legally knock the shit out of somebody. This isn't golf.

I don't think its the players in most cases complaining about the hits more so the owners who pay high dollar for these guys. There have been a few cases like the horse collar deal that the players supported making it against the rules.

I think the rule about hitting the head of a defenseless WR is going to have the biggest impact on the game. Just like now when a defender goes to block a pass and happens to hit the QB on the head they get a 15 yard penalty. I'm not talking about the hard hits to the head but more of the light accidental ones we see all the time that draw a 15 yard penalty. Now I think the same thing will happen as the defender goes to makes a play and happens to hit the WR on the head they will draw a 15 yard penalty and I can see allot of fans saying that a BS call that apart of football.

I guess it depends how they define "defenseless"

Is it someone who isn't catching the ball but hit is unavoidable? Guy in the air?

What if they're both going up for the ball and both heads knock a bit? Guess we're going to need to see it in action.

Just watched the Brady hit again...it still appears to me that a Patriots blocker actually pushed the KC defender into Brady.
What is a lunge from the ground? Falling from your knees into the QB? What if you're blocked into it? Is that worse than running straight at the guy? How many QB's are getting blown knees and ankles from being snatched below the knee?

I just can't see that one just because it happened to Brady.

I think these microprotecting rules are stupid. The reason they enacted the on-side rule is because "they were getting matchups there that they thought were dangerous." I mean jesus it's football! It's like they think it is possible to rule danger out of the game yet still allow them to run full speed into each other. Es stupido.

Again i'm confused, wasn't an onside kick out of bounds put at like the 40 for the receiving team? Or am i relying on my knowledge of madden09 rules lol.
