Took the words...
I mean sure Betts has disappointed from time to time, especially w/ the fumbles. But in all his time in the NFL the one opportunity he got to carry a team he racked up yards like, wait for it, L. Tomlinson. Betts started every game the 2nd half of the '06 season and the only RB to compile more yards in that span was LT. True shit check it out everybody. I think it's on Zorn to utilize Betts and change our rushing scheme. Basically, I think Ladell should be our work-horse in the 1st half of every game, getting lots of carries in a row cuz when in rhythm he's solid. This way Portis can 1) have a shot at defenses a bit worn down so he gets more breakaway opportunities 2) stay healthier longer in the season. Personally, i don't believe we'll be a contender for anything as long as CP is wore out by week 10.
... obviously Betts has to fix the fumbles to make this plan work. Coaching has to be a part of the problem/solution and I sort of think back to how NY worked intensively w/ Tiki to fix this issue.
I agree Goat. The problem with Betts is, he's never in long enough to GET a rhythm.

I just see Betts as having the same style as Portis, so why keep both? Portis is obviously the better back and we are married to him due to his contract. So why not add a speedster to offset Portis's smash-mouth style?

Betts in 2006 had 4 TD's, LT had 28.
I think the skins could use a homerun hitter in the backfield, like Jerius Norwood is to Micheal Turner, Leon Washington : Thomas Jones, Maurice Jones-Drew was to Fred Taylor.

ARL is the epitome of the upside-down contract bro... he isn't going anywhere for a long while.

The main problem is the O-line and passing game. We can argue back and fourth over Betts and Portis, but until we get a passing game and an O-line that can block we will still be a one dimensional offense. So you could have Sproles back there and with defenses playing 9 in the box he isn't gonna get any further then Betts or Portis would have.

That's it in a nutshell.

Byron Westbrook. He's taking up space that can be used for someone else of much better quality.

Now who else can mimmick Brian Westbrook better on the scout team O before we play Philly than Byron? What would we do without him?
In all seriousness he was on the practice squad and really wasn't affecting our active roster all too much. Maybe I'm biased because I played with and against his older brother at DeMatha, but I still like him.
