Hell of a first post...let's see if you can last to three posts
If you had been following the thread from the start, you'd know why Son of Man said Rey when he did
warriorzpath 03-18-2009, 06:57 PM I disagree. Big surprise right? Mack is by far the top rated center in the draft. If you watch film of him, when he does fall, he's usually falling over the guy he knocked on his ass or it's away from the play where he has blocked his man and does'nt stop until the whistle blows. He does'nt make a block and then stop and stand there when the RB has gone by him. He continues playing. If he wasn't so aggressive and constantly going until the whistle blew, he would'nt fall as much, but you may notice he does'nt fall until the end of the play or at least until his man is out of the play. He DOES bust his ass trying to make plays. He opens holes and I really don't care if he does it on his knees. He opens holes.
His strengths are not in question - his agressiveness, his effort, and even his athleticism (I read that some scouts don't think he is athletic - i don't agree). What some may be questioning and may be unsure of is his technique. His falling down at the end of plays may have something to do with a difference in his technique, which was begun to be formed early on in high school.
All of this won't be known until he plays in the NFL, which may be too much of a risky investment for some.
Don't get me wrong with my perspective (and also some nfl scouts) on this - I like Mack as a player. But let's say it's the difference in his technique and this isn't as effective in the nfl (which isn't out of the question)- that means re-investing individual time and effort to change his technique. And who's to say, he is flexible enough to changing. This is what investing a draft pick really means.

slightly uncalled for.
SmootSmack 03-18-2009, 06:58 PM Gotta be a homer and go with Aaron Maybin.
Maybin had a strong pro day today, leaving Vinny very impressed supposedly

Who's to say he's not? I'm not going to nitpick about whether you think he's first round material or not. If you don't fine, but I think you can find some weakness (imaginary or not) in every player out there. That's one of the reasons we have coaches. Here's a piece on Unger. Max Unger, C, Oregon (http://cdsdraft.com/profile.php?id=1856) It says he struggles in the middle with big NT's and DT's. Think he's flexible enough to change that?

Good thing I'm not a mod or your first post would be your last. :spank:

Of course you can find weaknesses in everyone's game. I'm not discounting that, but at the same time it would be foolish for anyone to overlook Mack's weaknesses.
That's what player analysis is. You analyze a player for their strengths and weaknesses to see if that player fits what you are looking for - depending on what you value for a player at a particular position. If there is some concern or doubt about a Center's balance (or technique) - I think you absolutely have to research a little more to get to a comfortable decision either way.

I know what player analysis is. Of course you check out what a perceived weakness may be. Whether it's Mack, Unger or anyone else. I just don't think it's going to be as big an issue as you seem to think it is.
