How pathetic is that?

I wish that this damn front office would please decide if we're getting younger or putting together another "Over the Hill Gang".

Whatever they decide, signing both Daniels and Wynn isn't going to help get us there. I don't mind signing Daniels as a run-stopping DE but what does the fact that our FO is considering signing both of them say about management's view of the competitiveness of our current team and the futures of our young DE's and DT's?

I also don't get the point of signing Haynesworth if the FO doesn't have a plan to surround him with playmakers who can get to the QB.

I just find the possibility of adding both of these players to our roster troubling because I think it would be a step backwards in the development of our team. Once again, I'm wondering if our front office has a clue, much less a plan.

PLEASE STOP!!! Daniels is finished, and wynn is 40!!! We must get a Pass rushing DE in the draft, it is critical if we want a GREAT D... Also what are we doing to help our Offense? It was the worst part of our team last season (Passing Game), and we have done nothing to help it WTF!!!

Haynesworth-Improves pass rush, increasing sack totals for players around him, increasing turnover opportunities
Hall-Ball hawk, can catch (unlike Rogers), excellent return skills
Dockery-Improves passing and running game
Development of 2nd year WR-Expected to have a significant impact on improving the offense
Development of Zorn and JC-2nd year in the system, foundation is already there, now it's time to see them build on it and take it to the next level.

I defintely think that it is not an ideal situation but I disagree that it doesn't help us, here's why:

I think Wynn still has some gas in the tank (he is on his last few laps though...). He played significant time on the defending Super Bowl Champions. NY would not have picked him up and played him if he was useless. So he was an important part on a good defense.

As for Daniels, I don't think he is done either. I thought he played pretty well in '07 and he essentially spent all of '08 training and rehabilitating because of his ACL.

I look at it this way. They easily could have had Evans and they did not want him, in fact they made no offer. So there was a reason why they wanted to let him go. I will side with Blache on anything defense related as he has earned it.

It is a stop-gap measure but I would rather have these guys on the roster than hope and pray that Wilson and Buzzbee are ready to start.

Like it or not you can't have young studs at every position on the team. Daniels and Wynn are clearly stop gaps and they should do fine in that role.

if I were the SKins, I would be trying to do two things
improve where possible.
stop the bleeding where no other alternative existed.
AND this year choose.....wisely in the draft. Next year, (at least at this point) we have a full boat of picks
It seems to me......this is what they are doing

Umm, wasn't this "Over the hill gang" ranked 4th last year w/o a half decent DT to push the middle of the pocket?

Now just take a moment. Digest it a moment. Maybe, just maybe, we can be 1st or 2nd ranked with Haynesworth to push the pocket. Hmmm, what a thought.

Of course the team needs to get younger. but until we actually have younger we can't go in to the season with nothing and hopefully they are like at vet min. especially since no one has probably been calling their agents wanting to sign them.

We have:
Andre Carter DE 8yrs
Cornelius Griffen DT 9yrs
Albert Haynesworth DT 7yrs

The rest are young:
Kedric Golston DT 3rys
Anthony Montgomery DT 3yrs
Chris Wilson DE 2yrs
Alex Buzbee DE 1yr
Rob Jackson DE R

You have 3 vets and 5 young players. If they pick up 1 or 2 from the draft or bring in undrafted players we should be good. Haynesworth will take up alot of space and anyone around him will look good.

Isn't that three things? :)

To me rankings mean nothing unless you're a coordinator in a contract year. I'd be thrilled if we were ranked 15th in total defense if we led the league in scoring defense, sacks and turnovers. The things that matter are changing field position and preventing points from being put up on you.

and...that's exactly what the Skins are trying to fix. With Haynesworth pockets wil collapse causing the QB to have to run from sideline to sideline. If this happens Carter or whoever is on the other side will get a sack. If the opposing QB's try to step up "Sack, Haynesworth." ;)

With all the facets put together hopefully it creates turn over by forcing the QB to throw the ball too soon or in a rush to avoid a sack. Other wise a sack backs them up and creates good field position for us. After their meager punt first. lol.
