Huh......Marcus OR Mason if Mason? So based on a few pre-season games....you consider Mason a stud? Not much of a body of work to consider someone that didn't even make the 53 man squad a stud...ya think?
How much time did you see him on the field in Bmore...? None...
Marcus or Mason? umm. it was a joke. Yes I do like Mason. I think if given a few years to develope he would be special no different then JC, Kelly, Thomas, Davis, Tryon, etc.
The joke was someone put up feelers put out for Marcus coming back.
Marcus Washington
Marcus Mason.
Get the joke?

We'll see. I'm not getting the impression they really want Willis all that much. That's not to say they aren't going to sign him, just that I'm getting a lukewarm vibe from them
Well, I don't know what the offer (if any) to Willis ultimately was, but I sure got the feeling all along that it probably wasn't going to be much and I guess whatever it was, wasn't enough

He could have easily used the Redskins offer as a bargaining chip or something. I think they should go after Brown.

The Raiders deal with Khalif Barnes has reportedly fallen through at the last minute, he's about to sign with another team...wonder who it is?

It would make me feel better if they would go ahead and sign Elton Brown. He's rated a bit higher than Heyer by Scouts, and AZ's line did a good job protecting Warner last year. Let's not forget that these players are the ones that make the decision of going with one team, and one thing that I don't want is for our team to overpay average players (remember Archuleta?), so if Ray Willis didn't want to come here, well that was his decision.
At #13, we should be able to pick up an o-lineman or LB that can start right away. The team should consider bringing Marcus Washington at a cheaper price, if they do this they can add a serviceable player or two at DE or LB. Let's not forget a couple of things:
- People knock on Heyer's talent, however he has another year of being in the Bugel system and will go through another training camp. We can only hope that he can improve and should be given the chance of compete for a starting spot.
- The same goes for Rineheart, whatever his problem was he needs to fix that and come up big in 2009. The FO has mentioned Devin Clark, well let's hope we have a diamond in the rough there a la Horton.
- We have young players at DE in Jackson, Buzbee, and Jackson who have a year under their belt, that year of experience has got to be worth something.
- And finally, we need luck on our side and hope that the likes of Samuels and Thomas do not fall to injury.
Right now it is too early (and not smart) to write off this team. We don't know what's going to happen in the draft, one team's mistake (above us) can be our fortune. I don't think anyone can predict that this team is set for failure because you never know what will happen.
Great post Ruhskins. We can fill at least one, maybe two, starting positions in the draft and we have some young players who, given the chance, might step up and surprise some people. I think if they could get Marcus back at a reasonable contract for 2 years it would be a good move. I also think people are underestimating Heyer. As far as Willis goes, why sign him for more than he's worth? Just so we can say we signed someone? We don't need more mediocre players making more than they're worth. With AH on the line, a couple of picks to help us in the draft, and another year in the WCO, I think we'll be improved from last year.
