To help my pea brain. are you sayng you think we will sign Willis then Brown? It sounded like the person after you was trying to say we will probably sign Willis instead of Brown. Can we not get them both? then look elswhere in the draft and pick up a OL in later rounds? :)

edited: Sorry did not mean to put words in his mouth. I guess it was the way you wrote your piece that got me wondering why not both?

From what i hear the Redskins are more intrigued with Willis given he's 6'6 315 and started 10 games. But I wonder why he is still on the market? I think we should get both guys a depth (with Willis having a better chance competing for a starting role) but I'm saying I think the Redskins will sign Willis before they sign Brown.

Is there a reason we are not even considering Khalif Barnes? I may be ignorant on him but if I remember he was pretty highly regarded coming out of school. Anyways I do like Ray Willis just wondering if Barnes has more potential to excel.

I'll be honest with you, Barnes doesn't impress me. I watched him during the season and saw him get burnt on protection and commit lots of penalties, I think he would be like having another Heyer. Willis would be a better option.

I think we are definitely looking at both seriously. Ray Willis would come in to compete for a starting job while Im sure Brown is more for depth. From what I've read it seems its not an either/or but they are looking to add both. Hopefully thats what happens. Still wondering about Barnes though.

I have no answer to that, I mean Barnes has started 57 of 60 games, which means he has more experience than Willis, and he has blocked for Fred Taylor and MJD, so he has some intriguing credentials. This might be why the Redskins are wary of him.

Barnes called the white officer who pulled him over a racist and said the officer was a "KKK devil who hates all colored people."

Wikipedia also says he's a T for the Oakland Raiders (maybe he signed?)

I agree. I mentioned this before in another thread somewhere, but Barnes allowed more sacks (7.5) than any other blind-side blocker in the league. I know we wouldn't play him at LT, but still. The fact that he gets burned so consistently doesn't sound too attractive to me.

That's interesting. It says the page was last updated late last night. Maybe someone out there knows something the rest of us don't. Or maybe a hopeful Raider fan made a premature edit.

EDIT: I guess someone got word of it early...

haynesworth was a redskin on wikipedia at like, 3am when free agency started. AH had been asking people about what DC was like the week prior to FA though, so maybe there was a tip off.

I just saw Jason Reid on ComCast and he said we're talking to Willis. He sounded optimistic to me about signing him. He also said feelers were sent out to see if Marcus would be interested in coming back but didn't sound as optimistic about that.

We'll see. I'm not getting the impression they really want Willis all that much. That's not to say they aren't going to sign him, just that I'm getting a lukewarm vibe from them
