That Guy 09-17-2004, 09:56 PM as far as LBs go, if they're any good, people probably know about them... antonio pierce may have slipped in the draft, cause before the season, anyone outside DC didn't know about him (unless they were a real big football geek)... go check maddens ratings and last weeks stats and see if you can find anybody they missed... you're not going to find any ray rays or lavars, but that's how it goes...
SKINSnCANES 09-17-2004, 10:37 PM And believe it or not, they were drafted!
I was helping a friend with a fantasy draft and one of his other friends was also there. He was one of those guys that has a big heart and wants to help but kept saying unreal comments. Like, 'pick randy moss, hes a great fantasy player'...this comment coming in the 6th round.
The sad part is that the fantasy team he plays on consists of the people from the show around the horn. He was an intern there.
Hogskin 09-18-2004, 11:22 AM Here's my current team:
QBs: Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich
RBs: Priest Holmes, Chris Brown, Lee Suggs, LaMar Gordon
WRs: Marvin Harrison, Chad Johnson, Justin McCareins, David Terrell
TEs: LJ Smith
DLs: Leonard Little, Charles Grant, Kris Jenkins, Terrell Suggs, Dan Morgan, Dwight Freeney, Jonathan Vilma, and Robaire Smith (which Im waiting to drop when I get Ogun off the waiver wire)
DBs: Marcus Trufant, Terrance Newman, Ed Reed, Sean Taylor
Looking for solid LBs if you guys have any ideas. I had the #2 offense last week, and tied for last in defense. Granted I had Mike Doss who went off, and Taylor had .5 points. Thanks for the help.
VERY nice team, Daseal!! A question, though. Was anyone else drafting?!! LOL - How did you get ALL of those first and second round players. I wanna be in that league!!
As far as LB's, Cato June didn't do much in week one, but should do well this year. Depends on your scoring system, though. If it uses tackles, look for guys getting tackles & sacks, rather than guys that got INT's, FR's or TD's in weekj one - those are not dependable.
SKINSnCANES 09-18-2004, 12:00 PM he had me helping him draft, heh.
youd have to ask him but i remember him makign comment about people making stupid picks a lot.
Daseal 09-18-2004, 12:35 PM Nearly everyone went primarily defense in the draft, so I decided to take advantage and go heavy on the offense. My defense was tied for last place, and my offense was second next to the guy with CMart, McNabb, and Moss.
Some guys made horrible picks, but I'm only in 4th place at the moment.
SKINSnCANES 09-18-2004, 01:15 PM if you have a bench you might want to not play taylor this week. i think hes still considered a situational player.

I would bet $$ that your offense will end up ahead of that guy you just mentioned (unless he has a couple other studs you didn't mention). Defense is very easy to improve in the first 3 weeks of the season. If you play it right, you can be in the middle of the pack on defense, and rule the league with that offense. What is the "D" scoring system?
Hopefully, this is a performance scoring system. If it is a TD scoring system, it is mostly luck, and all bets are off.
Daseal 09-18-2004, 03:31 PM Here's our scoring, as you can see it favors defense. Looking into June, not sure who to drop for him. Maybe Vilma.

That Guy 09-18-2004, 07:55 PM 1 point per tackle is pretty high; those D guys are very important... wow, that's really a D league... DTs and CBs aren't very useful though...
Hogskin 09-18-2004, 07:55 PM Daseal,
That is not too far off from the system we use. Even more points for tackles (we use 0.5 for tackles+assists), but less points for INT's and FR's. I would say that my earlier statements about finding guys that get a lot of tackles (and/or sacks) rather than INT's, FR's, TD's, etc is even more true with your system. MLB's and SS's should be key guys in this system. Often a key defensive guy on a team with a weak offense can be huge. With the "D" on the field a lot, and the other team running the ball in 4Q, tackles can tally up fast. I mentioned June, becuase he was getting amazing numbers of tackles in the preseason - I got him as a sleeper pick on several of my for-sale keeper league teams.
