But most qbs take time to develop, that is an accepted belief, not just among Skins fans, but analysts, NFL teams, and a lot of other folks who actually watch football games. I really like how you say "at this point JC and MH are not comparable" duh, one is at the end of his career and the other is at the beginning of his career. I was comparing MH and JC at the same point in the careers(2nd year under Zorn). But I can understand where that type of Apples to Apples (http://www.documentingexcellence.com/stat_tool/reasoning.htm#MISTAKING%20THE%20CAUSE) comparison might lose its appeal

Your talking defensive strategy and I'm talking winning and losing games. I dont care what strategy is used, its the wins that count. I agree that AH will impact the Skins defensive strategy. Will that translate into more wins, hopefully it will.

Let's talk winning and losing games. Will Tennessee win more or less games without AH? Will Kerry Collins raise the level of play to make up for the loss of AH? Or, as he was last year, will KC simply be a game manager -a competent one, but, nonetheless, not a game changer. AH, however, made everyone on the defense better. This in turn allowed Tennessee to be a grind it out team (300 yards rushing games?? Oh yeah, a skilled QB is essential for those handoffs). Tennessee will lose more games this year as a result of AH not being there. Bank on it.

At this point JC and MH are not comparable. MH has taken his team to the playoffs and super bowk, JC hasnt. I dont think that replacing JC with a competent QB would set the team back at all. Skins fans are now in the mindset that it takes years to develop a QB when in fact QBs like Cassell, Rothlessberger, Ryan stepped right in and got the job done.

Just so we're clear: At this point - MH is a QB with 10 years exp. HOWEVER - When he was at the JC's stage, a QB with 4 years exp., he hadn't won any Super Bowls and had barely beaten out John Kitna for the starting job in his third year (he road the pine behind Farve his first two years in the league- remember?). In MH's first two years as starter, the Seahawks went 9-7 and 7-9. Neither of which were playoff years. If you compare MH's 4th year numbers to JC's 4th year numbers MH has a slight edge (QB Rating 87.8 v. 84.3). Sorry, MH and JC are very comparable if you look at them in the same point at their careers.

Sure, some QB's step right in. The vast majority don't. You can count on two hands the number of QB's who were immediately successful (Oh, BTW, neither Manning brother was, Steve Young? Brett Farve? Nope). Cassell, by the way did not "step right in." He sat on the bench FOR THREE YEARS!!

Will JC turn the corner? Dunno. This is pretty much the year for him to do it. I hope he will and believe it likely. But to say he won't based on your comparisons relies on a faulty premise.

Also for the record, MH had 52 career starts before the season he led the Seahawks to the SB, JC enters this season with 36 career starts (a full season less). (source is wikipedia for MH, and ESPN for JC)

I'm playing a franchise mode season on Madden now with the Skins. Campbell sprained his elbow and missed 2 1/2 games, so I had Colt Brennan playing QB. I decided to go run-heavy with Portis (gained 306 yards against Philly for me in Colt's first start) and to only use screens and slants with Colt since his ratings are so low. Brennan did connect with Boldin for a 70 yard TD on a playaction though.

Campbell's back now but if Colt needs to step in, I'm confident he can handle the job as long as the running game is working and he's not asked to do too much.
