According to an article I read somewhere, Vonnie Holliday who was recently released by the Dolphins, said that JT was pretty much fed up with the Redskins. JT felt he was used out of position, and after 2 surgeries and not really clicking with Blache and then having the ammendment added to his contract, did'nt want to come back. Said he was'nt happy here.

JT is a total dumbass. He wasn't worried about spending time w/ his kids when he was on TV last off season. The FO saw that he showed up out of shape, he didn't play well even when he wasn't hurt so now they want to keep an eye on him. So what? They have a right to do that when they're paying you 8.5 mil. Where else is he going to make that kind of $? No other team is going to pay him that kind of money. They wanted him here for 25 workouts from March to June? WTF?? That's not a big deal and not too much to ask. I give the FO credit for this. Bottom line is he doesn't want to be here, good bye and good riddance.

Sure they do have the right. I would have preferred them to realize this before we gave up 2 draft picks. One an ultra valuable 2nd rounder.

Being the father of 3 young children I can see JT point of view, but at the same time as Cooley mentioned; 1 year for 9Mil? Time would fly by and you can take that money to the bank. Maybe JT is so loaded, that 9Mil is not shit to him or he misses his kids and banging his wife (she's hot).

And the reason you can't take a few hundred grand and of your 9M and bring the family here? (Yes. It's inconvenient and disruptive to their young lives - for 9M, they need to get over it. Somehow they will manage.)

Seriously, military families get moved around and separated from their spouses/children and they do it for a whole hell of a lot less. If he really wanted to (and that's the crux of it), he could make it happen.

He must already be richer than God. What was the upfront money on his last deal?

I like how in the last paragraph Cooley says, "and again, I will not judge his decision..." Ummm, Chris, you just spent 3 paragraphs ripping him a new one for his decision. It's still funny though.

Here's what I don't get- we all knew he would not restructure or take a pay cut because he and his agent felt like he was worth the money, and the Redskins knew the terms of his existing contract when they traded for him. So clearly in this instance money seems to be a big factor for him. Ok, fine.

So then he refuses this whole workout thingy, which ends up being a decision that voids his contract and leaves him looking for work. Plus he just sent a message to the rest of the league that he won't be participating in any offseason workouts. Is any team going to give a 34 year old malcontent coming off an injury plauged season $8.5M in 2009 AND allow him to skip workouts with his new teammates? I'd say the answer is a pretty obvious "no."

So what's the deal? Does he care about the $$ or not?

The Redskins had an investment in a player who didn't workout last offseason and happened to get seriously injured. They wanted to protect their investment by assuring that they could do all they could to in order to get Taylor in shape for the season. Taylor said no, VC said buh bye.

And while I'm not surprised that Taylor was unhappy, I think he blew a perfectly good opportunity to make some cash and play on a stellar line that would help inflate his stats. But such is life.

Well clearly you have to be a damn fool to give up that kind of coin for ONE season! He must of been one unhappy SOB! That family crap is a crock of shit!

You weren't worth what we paid and gave up for you to begin with, bad move on the Redskins behalf! Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out taylor!

I was pretty upset about this when it happened but I am starting to think it was the right move to let him go.

I don't think he is motivated (walking away from 8.5 million is pretty strong evidence) enough to keep around. This team does not need anyone who is not 1000% committed to spilling their guts for the team next year (another reason why I think letting Springs go was smart).

That still doesn't change my view that looking at the Taylor transaction in it's entirety was completely idiotic.

I definitely agree with this, and this whole post. The Redskins needed to be proactive about making sure that JT didn't get hurt again and have a season just like last year. If JT didn't want to be away from his family in Miami, he should've stayed there and work things out with Parcells. By the way, regular people that have to be away from their families (i.e. people in the military) don't have the luxury of quitting their jobs.
