agreed. Blades was horrible at OLB last year. Hes far too small to be our starting OLB, especially with another small guy in the middle. Blades may or may not end up being Fletcher 2.0, but one things for sure - we need one starting OLB and probably two new backup LBs or we're going to be in trouble.

Well as of this minute, Blades is a projected starter (along with Chris Wilson). We need to make a move to fix those holes sooner rather than later.

I was not confused, I responded to an ambiguous sentence. Thanks for noticing, pal.
Anytime champ.

I have been under the impression that HB Blades is going to replace Fletcher at MLB when the time comes. I believe the reason that they have had him playing outside is because he is better than the rest of the options.

From what I recall, Blache actually likes Matt Sinclair a lot as a backup MLB. He got hurt last summer so they had to cut him and I think he's an UFA now. But I'm guessing he joins us for training camp and maybe works his way onto the roster as Fletch's backup.

I agree. I'd love to get one or two of these guys:

Angelo Crowell, Bills
Derrick Brooks, Bucs
Cato June, Bucs
Kevin Burnett, Cowboys

i agree 8.5 is too high to bring back Taylor. I just hope the Front Office makes 2-3 quality moves the remaining money we have under the cap.

I suggest:
1 - One Linebacker through FA
2 - One DE through the Draft
3 - One O-Lineman through FA
4 - A DAMN KICKER!

Thoughts?
i argree with everything you said except i feel number 3 should be 1 Portis could be more of a beast then he is with a good line in front of him also Campbell could be more productive with a better line in front of him

I suggest:
3 - One O-Lineman through FA
1 - One Linebacker through FA
2 - One DE through the Draft
4 - A KICKER!
5- A good punter

You said you hadnt heard anyone say Heyer could be a "legit starter." I was just pointing out that several people inside the organization think he can be an "above average" starter. The RI article says others disagree - but it doesnt specify whether they disagree that he can start or that he can be "above average."

Ive still yet to see any quotes from any within the Seahawks organization about what potential they see in Willis. JLC mentioned him as a possibility (Zorn connection) and all of a sudden, everyone has decided this guy is our future RT without knowing anything about the guy other than that he started a few games last year. Considering how important OTs are, you would think if Seattle really valued this guy, theyd be trying their best to work something out with him. Thus far, theyve shown no such interest. And no other teams have been reported to be looking at this guy as a starting option.

That, inofitself, is more than enough to tell me this guy may have potential, but right now, hes just Seattles version of Stephon Heyer. If we werent dragging jansens dead weight, a very good argument could be made for bringing him on board - Two young OTs with starting experience is better than one. Unfortunately, were stuck with Jansen for the time being and unless we have no intention of drafting an OT with the 13th pick in the draft, theres simply not room for Willis on our roster.

I should have been more clear, I was referring to comments from those outside the org. regarding Heyer. I heard Clayton talk highly of Willis recently, if Heyer was a FA I just doubt we would be hearing very much talk of him being seen as a starter, at least at this point in time.

Seattle already has a starter at RT so I'm guessing that's why they aren't in a rush to re-sign him especially at starter type money that he's looking for.

If we sign him, we better not think about paying him starter money. He hasnt done enough to prove hes worth more than a 3 year deal with more than 3-4M garaunteed.

That kind of leaves blades as the odd-man out. I dont like him as anything other than a backup MLB or special teams player at this point. I dont remember too much about Sinclair. hes certainly got more size.

Well, we'd be fine starting Blades, who is a better player than McIntosh, but Chris Wilson can't be an everydown player.

You know, you'd think since we bothered to hold Erasmus James through the entire season last year, we would have kept him on into this year...but no.

I'm of the opinion that Heyer has great fundamentals and can start in this league, but he's just so unbelievably raw. It's incredible if he has to run a toss play or kick out the backer or something he just has no idea where the player is.

That's the thing, is that Heyer only has one more year to show progress in that aspect, or he becomes too costly to keep around.

I don't know if I would say that Blades is better than Rocky. In the beginning of the year, Rocky is a beast.

James is out there if we want him!
