If they really want get rid of Jansen, then they should cut him and eat his salary cap. Sign Runyan (as much as I hate him, he's a mauler) draft Mack this year and draft another T or 2 in 2010.

Like your ideas, but not sure about eating salary cap $$$ with the recent signings.

PS. Can any of you guys tell me about the neighborhoods near Bolling AFB? I am looking at making the big move to DC from Detroit and looking at potential apartments.

Didn't Thomas and Kelly come into camp out of shape?

Thomas was not so out of shape that he couldn't show up at the Combine. Malcolm Kelly had a bum knee as a Combine excuse. Besides, what kind of year did they have?

Andre Smith likely cost himself millions of dollars simply because he couldn't be bothered to hit the gym. Woe to the team which gets that head case.

Yeah. I think the problem was nobody took them under wing and instilled professionalism... just one of the reason's i'm anti-Hixon. F sakes the dude's got a group of professional vets who make sure they are in tip top shape and yet he can't find a way to tend to his whole flock of two f'ing rookies... don't get me started.

... i think the hope is that w/ A. Smith Buges will put the fear of God in him and Samuels will be his mentor... sort of good cop/bad cop strategy?

No team in the NFL would start Jon Jansen on opening day in 2009. This is some in depth knowledge JLC! Keep it up!

Actually I can't think of more than a few good WRs who did have good first years. It is rlatively accepted that rookie WRs struggle. Now do they struggle like ours did? Not sure...injuries played a huge role in that but name more than 5 who played WELL. Not just average or almost average.

Almost average would be a big improvement for Kelly and Thomas.

If it were that easy, the line would not have been so bad last year. NFLers have to be considerably self-motivated and there are a thousand examples where good coaches do not change a head case.

True. Also not hurt for 75% of the season would have been too. F*cking rookies have to get the sh*t straight. WHat the hell were they thinking getting hurt? Punks!

Seriously, they sucked. But they were hurt, for whatever reason . I'm not saying they are any good. I am saying we simply don't know and basing anything on last season is way premature.

Steve Smith, Wes Welker, Vincent Jackson each had 10 or fewer receptions their first season; Chad Johnson, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Plaxico Burress each had 20 or fewer.

Steve Smith's rookie season: 10 catches, 154 yards, 4 carries, 43 yards (8 fumbles, 3 lost)

Devin Thomas: 15 catches, 120 yards, 3 carries, 54 yards, 1 TD

Six names. You have access to all the power of ESPN and you come up with 6 names. How many people have played the position in the last fifteen years? Hundreds. I stand by my contention that if it looks like a bust, smells like a bust, lives in the training room like a bust, and can't memorize plays like a bust, then it is probably a bust.

First of all Buges went through what none of us wish on our worst enemy last year... obviously his group was going to suffer a bit as he missed time and understandably would have lost focus and you know what it's ok. We weren't serious contenders and Buges has given as much of himself to the franchise as anyone there.

replacing jansen with runyan makes no sense, they are both out of their prime as OL and have a 3 as the first digit in their age! If anything we'd cut him and eat up his cap so we can sign either Oher or Smith from Alabama. Either way...I still think ole Vinny will do something dumb on draft day...but we can always hope for the best.
