Haynesworth, wow. I'm happy and scared at the same time. So whats our next move?
Get Dockery signed. Let Pete Kendall and Springs go. Then draft either Rey Malumuna or Brian Okrapo.

Look at the past teams that picked up big name free agents the last few years. Cleveland spent a ton of money last year and didn't make the playoffs. Shawn Rogers was a bust. What about the Jets? They spent a ton of money and didn't make the playoffs. What abou the year before? SF spent a lot of money and never made the playoffs. Just cause you bring in a talented player doesn't automatically mean that the player will play well in his new system. AH only knows Tenn's defense and their system. Perhaps he doesn't fit well with what Blache and co does. As I said, history shows it doesn't work.
Kris Jenkins was a beast for the Jets so I blame the offense for the Jets not reaching the playoffs. But overall, no free-agent has dominated the way Haynesworth has for the last two years.

We will totally regret this signing - WAY more downside than updside. Here's my reasons:
1) Too much $$. That is Peyton Manning money and you can't tell me that Fat Albert (who will probably participate in only about 60% of the snaps) is worth that.
2) His old team and Detroit (new HC is old DC at Titans) did not go after him aggressively at all. They obviously know he's NOT worth the money.
3) He's hurt. A lot.
4) He's got no motivation to perform - and has shown to be a player that needs motivation to perform.
5) The Titans' system was designed to collapse the pocket from the outside via speed rushing DE's and force the QB to step up into Fat Albert's path. I think we'll find out that this HUGELY inflated his numbers.
6) Not a high-character guy. (Neither is DeAngelo Hall who we just blew another rediculous wad of money on). This is the anti-Gibbs philosophy. How many perennial SB contenders do you see with character issue guys? Patriots? Steelers? Bad for team chemistry.
7) I guarantee you that in 2-3 years we're going to have a situation where we'll have to re-wicker his contract and it's going to be a media mess with trash-talking, holdouts, etc...
8) At this price, short of a repeat of what he did last year - it will be a complete DISASTER.
9) Cut & Paste all of these comments for MeAngelo Hall as well.

Why does everyone have a hard-on for Dockery? He was average at best when he was here and we GLADLY let him go to the Bills for big money.... where he subsequently sucked horribly and they cut him.
We want him back WHY? I mean, for a very, very low salary - fine. But no way should we overpay for him. Kendall is 100 x better.
I hate to see Springs go, but there's just not $$ for him. Sucks to see us replace one of the top cover guys in the league (Springs) with one of the worst (MeAngelo) - but hopefully Fat Albert will get to the QB before they realize that MeAngelo's guy is wide open in the endzone...

I'm cautiously optimistic about this deal. I mean, we've seen it before. The Redskins go out and sign big names with little to no return. Make no mistake, I like both players on this defense (the DEs, LBs and DBs all just got better by adding AH) but we've been burned before. If this yields a perennial Superbowl contender and ultimately a Championship then great. If not, we're still just fans of the most frivilous sports team in America. I'm happy with the deal, but I want results (I know we all do). We've suffered long enough...it's time for a return to glory!
Hopefully they get cracking on that offensive line! Bring back Dock!!
I appreciate those who ensured this was posted as soon as the news broke...I tend to look here before I log onto any other sites as the Warpath always has info from credible sources.
HAIL!!

Nothing is guaranteed but he is the best player available at our weakest position on defense.
New system? Blache is still using Gregg Williams defensive scheme that was carried over from Tennesee. The Titans still run basically the same scheme (Gregg Williams) that Haynesworth has excelled in for the last 7 years, so I don't see a problem with him "fitting in".
Like I said, nothing is guaranteed but this was a very good move by the Little Danny and his sidekick Vinny.
