Besides, how can a Cowboy-stomper NOT play for us? :)

He was born to be a Redskin. (yes, I do think that was a horrible move and he needed the 5-game suspension...I am joking)

He's grown up a lot since then, I don't recall any other incidents since then.

Either Boldin or Scott would be as expensive as Haynesworth alone, they'd also not fill needs as urgent as D-line for us.

Sorry I meant Leigh Bodden CB. As for the dumbass moves Vinny just made them by signing to players for 154Mil. What about if Campbell has a great season and his contract is up? Are you going to clear the roster to sign him? It just might happen now.

I hope you are kidding but....

- Dockery: could still sign with us
- Brown: I agree with you on this one, I really wanted him
- Canty: a cheaper version of AH, I also wanted him but we got Big Al
- Crowell: I don't know who this is, I'll need to look him up
- Scott: He wasn't coming here, he's going to the Jets
- Bolden: We don't have the picks for this trade
- Dre Bly: We have Hall and Rogers, are you kidding me?

Some people are convinced that anything is better than the decisions Vinny and Danny make, regardless of how illogical they are.

Of the players listed in his original post, as pointed out by you, only Dockery and Brown would be viable and would consider us. From those, we're still likely to get Dockery back. Brown is signing with St. Louis, Canty isn't a good fit (he's a 3-4 DE not a 4-3), Crowell is coming off a knee injury, Scott was already going to be with Ryan at the Jets, Bolden isn't a free agent and Bly is a downgrade from what we already have.

You can pretty much tell who are actual NFL fans and those who just support the local team by what they read in the papers and hear on talk radio.

Wow.

He's a dumbass for signing the top free agent available when all of the "experts" said our cap wouldn't permit it?

He's a financial, specifically a salary cap genius. Every year, he's able to turn what looks like cap hell into the capability to sign anyone we need or want. He does it with how contracts are written, plus every year we have some big names who are committed to the team and are willing to restructure to free up cap room. They wouldn't do that if they hated Snyder and weren't buying into the team's future.

That was just an ignorant statement.

I really hope we get to see Snyder operate without a salary cap. This should be fun and we'll definitely win a few more Lombardis.

People hate the Yankees because they can buy whatever player they wish, well, Snyder is just like Steinbrenner...a very successful man who worked to build a fortune. I may not like the Yanks, but if our Skins are one of the most valuable franchises in the world (were #1 before Dallas built their new stadium with a hole in the roof), I am happy about it.

With or without a salary cap, some teams like the Lions will always be bad because of ownership decisions. The Redskins have an owner who has not only become a better owner football-wise, but has all of the money in the league at his disposal because of his personal success.

I agree with what all you said here. If the Skins hadn't signed him for this money, someone else would have. Plus, the Skins get a guy who will plug up the middle and cause havoc... don't think the Skins have had a guy like this since Dave Butz.

Like it or not, fans have to accept the fact that if you want some of the best players in the league, you gotta pay the big money. The teams that continously sign the average players for bargain prices never are competitive. Most of Vinny's moves in the off-season look smart and are good decisions even though a lot ended up not panning out. You just never know... most of free agent acquisitions by all the teams are not a sure thing.

My main concern is that it seems that a lot of these high price free agents never play to the level and energy they had before they got the big bucks. Lets hope Haynesworth is not like this.

Seriously, do you not understand football economics? Just for 2010 sake and your question specifically on Campbell, Jason Taylor's $8.5 million is off the books, that's plenty for a nice contract for Campbell in 2010.

I saw an interview with AH and he stated that he regreted what he did and didn't want his kids to be subject to that kind of thing. Ever since then he has been staying out of trouble.

Really? We could have signed all those players for the price of Hall and Haynesworth?

Well let's suppose we magically were able to do that. Would such sweeping changes make sense? And I guess they'd all start right? So Bodden and Bly (I'm going to guess you meant Leigh Bodden, not Anquan Boldin) start and Rogers becomes the nickel? Crowell and Scott start and McIntosh is benched? Canty starts and who sits? Rabach and Kendall to the bench? I'll admit that's some great talent on the bench

But what about the fact that maybe some (if not most) of those players want to play elsewhere or may not even be the best fits for us. What is Dre Bly going to offer us really at this stage of his career?

As for the folks the Redskins laid off, it sucks but it happens all around the league and all over the country. Colts laid people off, Browns laid people off, Pats laid people off...

You start Rogers and Bodden (Don't have to sign Bly, it was an example of how money could have been spent) Crowell, Scott and Fletcher (McIntosh is the backup due to a bad year and his knees) Canty replaces Evans, Brown/Dockery replace Kendall (again I used one of these players as what we could have gotten for 154M)

You do realize that $154M is not going to leave Snyder's wallet right? NFL contracts RARELY, I'd wager to say NEVER pay out the full amount you see on the news reports. Also, Hall likely won't stay all 6 years and Haynesworth won;t likely be here 7 years.

You have to understand how contracts work in the NFL and guaranteed money. Haynesworth is getting a nice chunk of guaranteed money, a reported $30Mil in the first 13 months of his contract, but the hit on our cap isn't as huge as it sounds when you hear $154Mil.

Great to hear.

Hall didn't cause any problems last year either.

I know some Raiders fans and one of them told me "you don't want a part of Hall". But last year, he was more of a spark plug than a locker room menace for us. Oakland and the Vick-led Falcons were hardly upstanding locker rooms anyways, so I think he'll stick to football with us too, especially since he got paid.

It's called I'm laying low to get the money, which he did. We'll see what he does next year, I'm hope I'm wrong.
