44ever 02-27-2009, 11:47 AM Danny is still the same ol dumbass he always was. 154 mil for 2 players. One of whom can't make it through a season without injuries. What a boob. I can only hope that the economy crushes his finances and forces him to sell of the team. Time to break out the 'FireDanSnyder.com" t-shirt I guess.
I disagree completly

See this is why I don't get, why are you a fan then? Everything that you do by being a fan supports the Redskins and Snyder. I just don't understand this.

Agreed! We could have signed Dockery, Brown, Canty, Crowell, Bart Scott, Bolden and Dre Bly for the price they gave this 2. I'm disappointed, if one of those players gets hurt, then what? Eat the money? What about those folks the Redskins laidoff? How do they feel when they see this?

Wow.
He's a dumbass for signing the top free agent available when all of the "experts" said our cap wouldn't permit it?
He's a financial, specifically a salary cap genius. Every year, he's able to turn what looks like cap hell into the capability to sign anyone we need or want. He does it with how contracts are written, plus every year we have some big names who are committed to the team and are willing to restructure to free up cap room. They wouldn't do that if they hated Snyder and weren't buying into the team's future.
That was just an ignorant statement.
I really hope we get to see Snyder operate without a salary cap. This should be fun and we'll definitely win a few more Lombardis.
People hate the Yankees because they can buy whatever player they wish, well, Snyder is just like Steinbrenner...a very successful man who worked to build a fortune. I may not like the Yanks, but if our Skins are one of the most valuable franchises in the world (were #1 before Dallas built their new stadium with a hole in the roof), I am happy about it.
With or without a salary cap, some teams like the Lions will always be bad because of ownership decisions. The Redskins have an owner who has not only become a better owner football-wise, but has all of the money in the league at his disposal because of his personal success.
Paintrain 02-27-2009, 11:52 AM God, that idiot Cowherd is frothing at the mouth. He's claiming that we bat .100 on free agency moves. He is also claiming that we made huge splashes in free agency last year. Neither of those are remotely true.
Why do you guys let him on the air? He doesn't know what he's talking about.
The guy is the Skip Bayless of radio. Don't even give that clown the satisfaction of listening to him. I'd rather listen to static than that dope.

I hope you are kidding but....
- Dockery: could still sign with us
- Brown: I agree with you on this one, I really wanted him
- Canty: a cheaper version of AH, I also wanted him but we got Big Al
- Crowell: I don't know who this is, I'll need to look him up
- Scott: He wasn't coming here, he's going to the Jets
- Bolden: We don't have the picks for this trade
- Dre Bly: We have Hall and Rogers, are you kidding me?
44ever 02-27-2009, 11:53 AM See this is why I don't get, why are you a fan then? Everything that you do by being a fan supports the Redskins and Snyder. I just don't understand this.
Ruhskins, How many Redskins Hall and Haynesworth jerseys will sell this year. Even in a bad economy. I bet its huge.
Monkeydad 02-27-2009, 11:55 AM Agreed!
Either Boldin or Scott would be as expensive as Haynesworth alone, they'd also not fill needs as urgent as D-line for us. THOSE would be "dumbass" moves. Canty has not proven anything and Dre Bly is a player who can't find a home. Why would you want either of those over D. Hall who made a huge impact for us last year?
This blind hatred for Snyder without actually thinking is getting old. Yes, he used to make HORRIBLE decisions and I was on him then just like you are now, but we've been building a nice team over the past few years and it will be better next year. We always have a top-5 defense and are always in the playoff hunt over the past few years. Early in Snyder's career, we were a laughing stock. He has learned from Gibbs and his mistakes.
Be happy we don't have Jerry Jones. I have a few friends who are Dallas fans and they are about to give up on their team because of their owner. It's fun to watch.

Really? We could have signed all those players for the price of Hall and Haynesworth?
Well let's suppose we magically were able to do that. Would such sweeping changes make sense? And I guess they'd all start right? So Bodden and Bly (I'm going to guess you meant Leigh Bodden, not Anquan Boldin) start and Rogers becomes the nickel? Crowell and Scott start and McIntosh is benched? Canty starts and who sits? Rabach and Kendall to the bench? I'll admit that's some great talent on the bench
But what about the fact that maybe some (if not most) of those players want to play elsewhere or may not even be the best fits for us. What is Dre Bly going to offer us really at this stage of his career?
As for the folks the Redskins laid off, it sucks but it happens all around the league and all over the country. Colts laid people off, Browns laid people off, Pats laid people off...
JoeRedskin 02-27-2009, 11:56 AM We signed Stubblefield at the end of his career, much like Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders and half our roster in that "era". ... [Wilkinson] was never brought in with the expectation of being the top defensive lineman in the game like Haynesworth, neither was the aging Stubblefield even though he was paid nicely from Snyder.
...
I trust him now. Back in the "Stubblefield" days, he was a reckless check writer. Now, the Redskins actually have a vision for the future instead of "just win now".
1. Stubblefield was 27, a five year vet, and coming off a season in which he was named defensive player of the year when he signed with us and played six more years (three with us, two with SF and one with Oakland).
2. Stubblefield was pre-Snyder.
Hopefully, Haynesworth will not be a Stubblefield redux or a Jevon Kearse-like error (Yes, yes - I know Kearse was a Philly dumb play, but it was a dumb play nonetheless). Who knows, maybe its a Reggie White like move. My preference would have been for more inexpensive signing to shore up the O-line. But hey, what do I know.
