Thanks dmek25 for starting this thread. I saw this HBO movie and, I thought that it was a well done story of what goes on in the Corps when we bring our fallen heros back. I really appreciated how Hollywood didn't try to throw in any politcal spin pro or con. Very respectfully done.

The part when Kevin B. was riding behind the hearse, and he looks back and sees all of the other cars in the rear with their lights on had me all kinds of choked-up.

Now matter how much it bothers me I always end up watching movies like this. If they disappoint, then I end up criticizing the crap out of them. I haven't seen the entire thing, but I caught the clip of him not wanting to remove his Jacket at the Airport. That part was a bit exaggerated to be honest. Especially since they are strongly advised not to travel in uniform... official business or not.

If you liked that movie, take some time and read this article from by in 2005. I made the mistake of reading most of it at work on Friday and I almost got really choked up a couple of times.

Final salute : News : The Rocky Mountain News (http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2005/nov/11/final-salute/)

I'm guessing that this might have inspired the movie, since it apparently won all shorts of journalism awards.

I'm at work and I just read the whole thing. Part way through I stood up and closed my office door. I definitely shed a tear. That was really powerful. As if I didn't already have enough respect for our men and women in uniform. My goodness.

Angry, as the resident former jarhead (check my screen name) around here please allow me to clarify on any uniform regulations. When Marines are traveling to and from post, or on duty, we wear dress alfa, bravo, and charlie. Kevin B. was on duty at the time because he was on escort detail. We are not allowed to wear battle dress uniforms (camouflage utilities) out in town or at airports like Kevin B. Respectfully sent.....
