I don't know about Blades playing strong LB. He's too small and is probably best suited as a back-up to Fletcher. I suspect the Skins' will definitely take a linbacker or two in the draft.

He did start in MW's place last year so that's why I'm not ruling it out. We'll see.

I thought Blades did a decent job stepping in but we suffered a little against the run... not looking at any stats just going off memory.

... when it became clear Marcus would be cut i basically thought ok now we have two positions we need to fill - RT and SLB - and we should be able to seriously upgrade both through FA and the draft i.e. draft a stud at 13 for one position and take a stud in FA at the other. I still hope this is the case. It's probably likely Hill gets franchised but if not I want us to spend our FA money on him.

Leroy Hill? He's already been franchised.

hes way too undersized. he only started there last year because we had no choice. i think our FO is just being "PC" by saying he has a chance.

Can we clarify this cuz i think everyone means short. Right? Blades is the heaviest LB on the squad now he's like an f'ing bowling ball w/ legs. He's short though.

I'm soo glad the CAP goes bye bye in 2010. You see ...in the old days teams would pick players up in the draft and only occasionally get free agents. Most players were looked at as being team players. Meaning life long players. Ever since they put the CAP on things and opened up the owners pockets to get more pay either teams can't afford to keep their team players due to CAP or the player goes elsewhere looking for his pay day.

Lost was the days when you as a fan would really be upset at losing a decent player and god forbid they went to a rival. It just didn't happen or you were betrayed. Now a days losing a player is all business. Ho-hum, lets look for his replacement. I have not felt that undying loyalty to any player since what 92? Players come and go. You purchase a jersey and with in 3-4 yrs they are gone. It would be alot different if the jersey's were like $15 dollars or $20 dollars but they are like $100 or more. Unless you shop at Walmart like me. ;).

I can only hope that if anything changes, we will be able to keep "team players" and fans will be able to purchase jersey and be able to wear it longer then 3 yrs.

The CAP is not what opened player movement, the courts/labor agreements did. Free Agency is here to stay, i don't know what happens if the cap goes away, but I don't think it will be a good thing for the league.

Well the Redskins met with Orakpo yesterday and told him they see him as a strongside linebacker. So if he's the choice at 13 then we have MW's replacement

So for those keeping track, Redskins met with Andre Smith on Thursday and Brian Orakpo on Friday. At the Senior Bowl they met with Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews, and a couple of other people who I'm drawing a total blank on right now.

CRedskinsrule, Well, they have said that we will see more contracts of 5-6 yrs before the drafted player can look to change teams. Teams can pay the bonus money up front and it won't count against the team and the teams will not be limited as to what they can spend. The only real big issue is going to be teams will not be able to hord all the good players. In order to sign a big name the play off teams will have to let one go. Other teams will be limited to like 2-3 players if they did not make the play offs. So I'm not saying players will not leave for money but the owner will have the availability to match other offers with out being constrained or decide to let the player go. Rookies will most likely be held for 5-6 yrs before they can jump ship.

I don't know perhaps I'm wrong in what I thought I understood. I felt the good news was owners hands will not be tied to how much they can spend and due to that maybe more players will end up staying with a team they started with. Which means your jerseys will last longer. yes or no?
