Fairness Doctrine - Obama Against

Let me be the first to reach "across the aisle" and give the President credit where it is due on his stance against re-instating the Fairness Doctrine.

Don't be naive. Fox news is no friend to conservatives nor are the Democrats. They'll slip it into something else in the dead of night with a nice name like the bunny rabbit doctrine. Besides, from what I hear they don't have to pass it. It just a matter of some blowhard at the FCC or some other worthless instituition reinstating it.

I think Obama can say this but I think his party has other ideas. Obama gets to play Mr Nice guy and say he does not want the fairness doctrin but he has to sign the bill because it will be attached to another 988 billion dollar stimulas package to rescue America from total collapse.

First off, I'm far from naive. I'm pretty sure after Obama's statement being plastered on the front page of Fox News' website and played throughout the day on the conservative talk shows and other media, the last thing Obama will do is sign a bill with the FD in it or enact it through the Executive Branch. Whether it's called the Fairness Doctrine, the "Bunny Rabbit" doctrine or the "I think it's funny a chimpanzee killed a lady" doctrine, Obama taking the position against it stops the discussion in it's tracks for now. IMO Obama did the right thing and I'll step up and give the guy credit when he gets it right. If he flip-flops on it, I'll be the first to criticize him.

While the folks at Fox aren't part of the same right wing (or whatever wing) militia you belong to, most rational conservatives appreciate Fox's coverage compared to the NY Times, Wash Post, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.

I am against Fairness Doctrine as it isn't necessary. Make no mistake there was a time when it was necessary and I assume you know why it was necessary in the past, but there is no need for it in this day and age. What really concerns me is Yellow Journalism which is apparently rampant these days (http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/georgemonbiot/2009/feb/18/climate-denial-george-will) and far more insidious (http://mediamatters.org/items/200902100019) than fat f*cks like Rush and Savage spewing hate and envy.

As a consumer trust is everything, sadly the media has chosen access over the trust of their readers/viewers/listeners. Fortunately betrayal has a price.

You might be right about Fox I haven't watched it in years.
You're right. I should have waited a few months, gotten half drunk, and went on tour with Larry the Cable Guy before I started making jokes about wild animals eating people.
I don't trust Obama or any of those hacks on Capital Hill. When they say they're not going to do something it means they're going to do it. I'll wait and see.

Sorry but your links are pretty worthless and man Rush really gets under leberals skin and the funny thing is he knows it does and even tries to. I guess you wanted to leave out the media making up news about Bush and the forged document they used in the story while knowing they where doing this.

You're absolutely right firstdown, the links are worthless and I still don't like Bush and think him a fool but I have moved on. I don't really care about him anymore and I want to forget about him. Will you help me forget about him or will we have to keep coming back to him? I really want us to exit the infinite loop we're in.
