you sign him to a cheap deal, and tell him he'll be the starter but go draft a DE who will end up as a starter

Demetric Evans ....start me or lose me44ever 02-18-2009, 06:11 PM you sign him to a cheap deal, and tell him he'll be the starter but go draft a DE who will end up as a starter Are you serious? SBXVII 02-19-2009, 09:13 AM you sign him to a cheap deal, and tell him he'll be the starter but go draft a DE who will end up as a starter No you got it all wrong. You sign him to a cheap deal, then go out and sign some old vet for like 8.5 mill while throwing away a draft pick to get him. lol. ;) I hope you all realized I was #1-joking and #2-making a reference to us signing E.James last year then throwing a draft pick at Miami for Taylor. I also kinda got the feeling Nflnick11 was doing the same thing or atleast I thought he was trying to. Perhaps I'm wrong. I don't have a problem with Evans. I don't have a problem with him wanting to start. What I have a problem with is when anyone gives that vailed threat that sounds like an ultimatum. I have a tendency to want to say "Bye". Nflnick11 02-19-2009, 10:42 PM Are you serious? Dead serious Evans is a good backup up but starter, no. You sign him to like a 4 year 15 million dollar deal with 3 million guaranteed GMScud 02-19-2009, 11:11 PM Dead serious Evans is a good backup up but starter, no. That's neither smart nor cheap. Cheap would be a 3-4 year contract worth half that much, and give him a "chance" to start. That's what he asked for. A new contract and a chance. 44ever 02-19-2009, 11:44 PM Originally Posted by Nflnick11 you sign him to a cheap deal, and tell him he'll be the starter but go draft a DE who will end up as a starter Thats good then when said drafted DE starter gets hurt and Evens steps in i'm sure he will give 100% Wrong! Evens has been an upright hard working player who if he doesnt deserve a starting position which IMO he does, at least deserves more respect than you are offering. Trample the Elderly 02-20-2009, 12:08 AM He's a starter already. Why not give him a decent deal? tryfuhl 02-20-2009, 01:06 AM I think he'd play the same role about anywhere else. We'll see. dmek25 02-20-2009, 07:34 AM first off, you don't lie to him. and pretty much like everyone else said, you give him the chance to be a starter. the N.F.L is all about winning. if he can produce, he will play SBXVII 02-20-2009, 09:30 AM Dead serious Evans is a good backup up but starter, no. I posted just before Nflnick11 did and thought I was going to be the last post and everyones popped up at the same time. I guess I should apologize for assuming you were being sarcastically funny Nflnick11. Clearly you were serious. Good luck with the whole lie to Evans and bring in a young, unknown drafted rookie thing you mentioned. GridIron26 02-20-2009, 09:35 AM you sign him to a cheap deal, and tell him he'll be the starter but go draft a DE who will end up as a starter That would bring up 2 problems if we do that.. First, we would make Redskins organization to look bad which would make players not to be so trusting with us.. Second, Evans would complain which will bring up some kind of distraction.. Then we probably would have to trade or release him.. Not so much of positivity in this idea.. As for Evans wanting to start; I would not promise him that he would start however I will give him a chance to compete for the starting spot.. After all, he deserves to have a chance for what he have done for us last season.. |
