For all you D Hall loversThat Guy 02-23-2009, 04:37 PM figured, surprised i missed that. oh well. BigHairedAristocrat 02-23-2009, 04:38 PM BigHairedAristocrat spread that rumour so we would hurry up and sign him. :) Shhh, dont tell Vinny. I don't want him catching on to my cunning ways... atleast not until i can trick him into into firing himself. CRedskinsRule 02-25-2009, 09:20 AM Skins Like Canty ... and Other Free-Agent Buzz - Redskins Insider (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/2009/02/redskins_like_chris_canty.html) The plan remains largely as it was more than a month ago - to try to re-sign DeAngelo Hall, plug gaps on the offensive and defensive lines with value free agents, and likely re-sign some of their aging veterans on the cheap as insurance (Pete Kendall, maybe Phillip Daniels). Vinny Cerrato, the vice president of football operations, has expressed some frustration to others around the league about the slow progress with Hall, and the gap that exists between the sides, but the Redskins will continue try to sign him until free agency begins at 12:01 Friday I really can't believe that Hall will not sign a reasonable contract. It amazes me, and really makes me want him less. Argue what you will about how he deserves to be paid or that he is a top flight CB. The fact remains in his brief career he has been on 3 teams. If the Skins offered him over $10million guaranteed as reported, I think it is outrageous that he has not signed. (Spare me what Oakland paid, just tack Oakland's 8mill that he "stole" last year to whatever our contract offer was and he would be in the same range) I like his hands, but at this point if he leaves, I for one will not cry a bit. MTK 02-25-2009, 09:25 AM If Hall wants to test the market let him. It's certainly his right to do so, I find it hard to blame him for that. freddyg12 02-25-2009, 09:57 AM Skins Like Canty ... and Other Free-Agent Buzz - Redskins Insider (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/2009/02/redskins_like_chris_canty.html) I really can't believe that Hall will not sign a reasonable contract. Well put. A little self-reflection might be in order, but that ain't his style. 53Fan 02-25-2009, 10:02 AM I guess I can understand Hall wanting to test his value on the market, but if he's going to try to hold us up for a huge contract, send him on his way and let's move on. Why would he sign a 'reasonable' contract? If you saw some of the salaries of your peers and knew that despite some past indiscretions you knew there was someone out there who would pay you commensurate to what everyone else was getting would you take 15% less to stay with your old employer? Of course not. 44ever 02-25-2009, 10:08 AM Skins Like Canty ... and Other Free-Agent Buzz - Redskins Insider (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/2009/02/redskins_like_chris_canty.html) I really can't believe that Hall will not sign a reasonable contract. I'm really getting frustrated with the Hall situation myself. But blame is going to have to go to FO for once again not having the foresight to see what would happen if Hall was not signed quickly. Now instead of paying him 13-14M, they will probably have to offer him at least 15-18M maybe more. At this point Hall has the right to test the market without feeling guilty. What bothers me is we benched Rogers to showcase Hall to the entire NFL and now have to fight financially to keep him. If the Skins thought Hall would feel indebted to them because they "rescued him when nobody else wanted him". They were dead wrong. Its always about the $,$$$,$$$ SmootSmack 02-25-2009, 10:19 AM DeAngelo Hall has a relatively new agent, who I also mentioned recently is Andre Smith's agent, and this guy apparently is extremely methodical and kind of raw. But I think SS33 mentioned that he plays ball with the guy and he's pretty nice so I don't think he's trying to hoodwink anyone or be dishonest, just trying to take care of his clients. Its always about the $,$$$,$$$ If I were Hall, I would not have signed a contract before free agency. For Hall is a win-win situation. If he finds something better, he can go to another team. If not, he can come back to the Redskins. I know we're thinking of what's best for the team, but players also have to think about themselves. The teams are not going to care about a player if he gets injured, doesn't play anymore and doesn't see a dime of his salary (just the guaranteed money). Also, the teams are not going to care when they have to cut a player, it's just a financial decision. Why do we (including me) chastise a player for making a financial decision, yet we praise (sometimes) when a team makes the same thing? That aside, I do feel the Redskins should have tried to sign Hall before free agency, but such is life. |
