The Goat 02-08-2009, 06:49 PM I think we have seen the best JC is going to be. To bad because we have little on the bench. This team has so many needs I see little chance of drafting a QB first round. There are two things the O needs more out of the QB spot and a line that has so many needs one draft will not due! O9 will be a long season just like the end of 08 was.
Couldn't disagree more w/ this. For one thing it ignores logic: Jason has improved against remarkable odds. From '07 to '08 the entire offensive system changed, and the o-line regressed significantly as evidenced in almost twice the number of sacks on Jason (especially considering he began to use his feet and make defenders miss this season it's pretty telling how much more he was sacked - the o-line was probably the worst in football by week 8). Through all that he markedly improved on fumbles, interceptions, footwork and decision-making. He is also tough as nails and becoming more of a threat w/ his legs.
... I don't mind defending Jason over and over again cause it just sharpens my thoughts on why he's our QB. Said it before and i'll say it again here: JC will be money in '09 if the FO/coaches do their job to upgrade the line. Drafting a franchise tackle is the first step and this appears to be a great year for them. Opening up competition on the interior between Jansen, Rinehart and Thomas is also important and if all else fails grab a stop-gap guy in FA if Jansen can't transition to guard and Rinehart still has sand in the vag.

Couldn't agree more
Nflnick11 02-08-2009, 07:01 PM Other expectations were for us to have a losing season, and we didn't. Not to mention how competitive our division was this season. I mean, come on there's a big difference between finishing last in our division and last in the NFC West (which that type of production was what was expected of us).
Regardless, my original point was to counter you defending the Cowboys saying that they were still in the playoff hunt much later in the season than we were (which I don't think we were out of the playoff that early in the season). And I was comparing the expectations by the sports media of our team and the Cowboys. The Cowboys were expected to have a season like the Giants, but they didn't. The Cowboys were the ones with all the flashy free agent acquisitions, and their owner guaranteed that they would make the playoffs. Meanwhile our team had a rookie coach, some young receivers, a questionable offensive line, and a banged up RB.
Alright dude you don't need to get all technical about this... The bottom line is that we finished 8-8 which is bad considering we were 6-2. And about finishing last if were in the NFC west, last time I checked we lost to the worst team in the NFC west so I would say this is a season we should forget about. I know I'm sounding very negative, but I'm being negative because we got to take all those negative players or plays or calls etc. And fix them for next year, Jason Campbell and his reads is one of those things

Good Post Goat. I agree. On Rinehart...if he still has the "sand" problem, is that something that is operable or do you think he'll be put on IR?

Well said Goat.
JC showed that he can play at a high level during the 1st half of the season. And i think the offense will grow around him as the talent around him improves, including the coaching/play calling. Year 1 of JC/JZ WCO offense was a success in my eyes.
I still don't understand how so many fans can watch the games and still have a negative opinion about JC?
Or maybe they aren't watching the games?

Yeah you're right, I mean why be statistical and logical when talking about this?
Daseal 02-09-2009, 12:22 AM There's one reason to me that yells Jason has a somewhat short leash. He's not Zorns guy. You see it all the time when new coaches come in, they replace current players with 'their guys.' Wouldn't be surprised to see it happen here in DC eventually. I think Jason will get another year or two to show adequate progression, but if he doesn't Zorn isn't connected at the hip like he would be if he drafted Campbell.
